Your #WorldCup Package

It’s high tide at Lake Soccer!  Unless you’ve been stuck in your man-cave, or pulling a little too much overtime or too many double-shifts, you may have noticed that the flags have now started surfacing on those car poles and antennas. #WorldCup Android Apps Maybe you’re typically too engaged in fighting traffic or wondering what it would really take to develop that teleportation device to notice these flowing flags, or even these team t-shirts and colours that every other person and their dog (in some cases literally) are sporting… but surely you couldn’t have been that caught up or busy to have missed some of these truly EPIC World Cup Ads that have started to hit the “air waves” (net waves???)… really?  You mean you haven’t seen any of these?

Well, maybe you really have been too busy of late… or maybe you’re just burning the midnight oil now so that you can have a, shall we say “lighter load” during the World Cup season?  Well played…. indeed, well played.

OK, so we get it, whether you’re a little behind in riding the excitement or you already have your finger on the pulse, tech’s got you covered.

For starters here are electronic copies of the World Cup 2014 Schedule and the World Cup 2014 Calendar for you to print as many copies as you want.

If hardcopy printouts are just a little bit too low-tech for you we got some Android apps for you as well…

There’s the FIFA app which is the official FIFA World Cup app. The app promises exclusive coverage, team alerts, match schedules, live blogging, team and player profiles, plus everything and the proverbial kitchen sink!  The app as you would imagine looks awesome and based on what it promises, might just be all the World Cup companionship you might ever need.

As great as that app is, here are a couple of bonus apps recommended by @carlettedeleon that I found to be particularly useful:

  • SofaScore World Cup 2014 LIVE – This app has a beautiful and well designed user interface, everything feels smooth and the layout of the information is awesome, complete with lineups, team formations, the works!
  • ScoreMobile FC Football Scores – This app has a good layout and information presentation with good match stats and team tracking.  (Update:  I’m removing this app because now that the World Cup has actually started it doesn’t seem to offer much in terms of  World Cup info).
  • LiveScore – This is an impressive app with, as the name suggests, live stats on not just scores, but in-game stats that will put even the common football novice or noob strongly in-the-know.

I’m sure there may by other apps that you use, maybe even all season ’round that we don’t have included here… please share them with us in the comments below, especially if you’ve found some great ones for other platforms, such as BlackBerry or iPhone and other iOS devices.

For obvious reasons I don’t expect to see any *cough * cough* (legit) apps doing live streaming as we did in the case of the official Sochi Olympic games app.. but hey… this is the Internet, so… you never know.

Until next time… see you in the virtual stands… and remember to support your friendly neighbourhood #WorldCup flag retailer, coming to a corner near you!
