“Bring the vibes, bring the creativity” is the call from the Caribbean Development Bank (CDB) as it announces its 2016 VYBZING Animated Music Video Challenge to be hosted in Jamaica.
Under the theme, “Beam Me Up with ICTs,” young animators are being challenged to create a two-minute video which explores how information and communication technologies (ICTs) can transform the cultural, economic, social and educational lives of youth in Jamaica.
The Challenge which is open to residents of Jamaica ages 16 – 29, began Friday, March 4, 2016 and concludes at midnight AST on April 24, 2016. Entries must be submitted via the ‘2016 VYBZING Challenge’ tab on the VYBZING Facebook page, for full terms and conditions, visit http://www.caribank.org/programmes/vybzing/vybzing-2016 or www.youthjamaica.com.
Prizes ranging from USD1250 to USD2000 will be presented for first to third place. There will also be a People’s Choice Winner, based on the submission with the most votes on the VYBZING Facebook page. Online voting takes place during the period April 25 – May 9, 2016. The highest voted animator will receive a special prize of USD250.
VYBZING Coordinator, and CDB’s Information Services Unit Manager, Angela Parris commented: “We are really excited to see what the youth of Jamaica come up with for the VYBZING Animated Music Video Challenge. The winning submissions will be determined by a specially chosen judging panel who will assess submissions based on musical composition, message content and appropriateness to theme, originality, video presentation and impact.”
The winners will be announced on the VYBZING Facebook page and CDB website on May 12, 2016.
The Animated Video Challenge is just one of the three activities held under the VYBZING programme. The others include a youth forum and a youth presentation. 2016 VYBZING Jamaica is in collaboration with the Ministry of Youth and Culture.
