Tech tutorials, howtos and walkthroughs

After announcing the new feature via a video over 2 months ago Twitter has started to roll out a new direct image upload feature to Twitter.com users. This is a phased roll-out so not all users will have access to the feature right now. Attaching or linking images within tweets is a feature that many third party applications like Twitpic and Yfrog has enabled for years but this is the first time the functionality has been directly supported by Twitter.

The photo upload component of Twitter.com is powered by Photobucket and more functionality is expected to be built upon the service in the coming weeks and months such as a gallery. Twitter users with protected accounts need not worry as protected accounts will not display images uploaded through the Twitter photo service to the public and can be easily removed by deleting the tweet that the photo is attached to. Below is a promotional video highlighting the uses of the new photo upload feature.
