Have you ever wondered how to do that? Anonymously tweet or post to FB from a regular cellphone? You can actually do this, despite not having a smartphone as all the Social Networks are made to be backwards compatible with the great exalted email. After all, were it not for email, many a FB account and tweeter wouldn’t be born, as email accounts are the source of all of your initial friends when you had signed up. It’s still the gold standard for all Social Networks. Plus most Feature phones can send email as explained in How to send and receive email via SMS from your LIME or Digicel Feature phone. This’ll be the shortest DIY (Do it yourself) article in history for me as far as I’m concerned. Once you’ve read my article How to send and receive email via SMS from your LIME or Digicel F...

Twitter.com rolling out direct image upload feature

After announcing the new feature via a video over 2 months ago Twitter has started to roll out a new direct image upload feature to Twitter.com users. This is a phased roll-out so not all users will have access to the feature right now. Attaching or linking images within tweets is a feature that many third party applications like Twitpic and Yfrog has enabled for years but this is the first time the functionality has been directly supported by Twitter. The photo upload component of Twitter.com is powered by Photobucket and more functionality is expected to be built upon the service in the coming weeks and months such as a gallery. Twitter users with protected accounts need not worry as protected accounts will not display images uploaded through the Twitter photo service to the public an...

Google+ is awesome – but most don’t understand why

Google+ is only a month old and although opinions are mixed on this new social networking service from Google I personally think it is awesome. I may not be some " social web professional"  but having used various social networks over the years and experienced the rise and fall of many I think I am experienced enough to have an opinion on Google+ while giving my reason why I think some have negative comments about the service. Quite frankly I think most person who dislike Google+ just don't understand it. Climb that initial learning curve For example I remember using Twitter for the first time some years ago and having to climb that initial learning curve as I sought to understand Twitter's terminology and functions. Many years later Twitter is a big part of my everyday life and I have...

It’s now Official: Twitter has acquired Tweetdeck

I wouldn't describe it as an acquisition done in perfect secrecy so it is no surprise that it has finally been announced officially that Tweetdeck has been acquired by Twitter. Through posts on both the Tweedeck blog and Twitter blog the "news" was broken. As a longtime Tweetdeck user watching it grow from it's beta stages and using it's desktop and android variants to manage my Twitter accounts I must say this is a positive development. The official Tweetdeck annoucement post is posted below and dont forget to follow @Geezam on Twitter! I am extremely happy and proud to let you know that TweetDeck has been acquired by Twitter. We completed the deal on Tuesday and are now in the process of "joining the flock". The past three years have been an epic journey, with many highs and lows,...

Twitter celebrates its fifth birthday

Twitter co-founder Jack Dorsey sent the first tweet five years ago on 21 March 2006. Five years on Twitter is one of the largest social networking websites with a massive user-base worldwide with hundreds of thousands new registrations be day. Twitter users now send more than 140 million Tweets a day which adds up to a billion Tweets every 8 days— by comparison, it took 3 years, 2 months, and 1 day to reach the first billion Tweets. While it took about 18 months to sign up the first 500,000 accounts, we now see close to 500,000 accounts created every day. All of this momentum and growth often pales in comparison to a single compassionate Tweet by a caring person who wants to help someone in need. - Twitter blog
