Pew Research posits 3 in 10 get their News via Facebook as Paper set to go live

Facebook is planning to launch a #Trending Widget on the Home Page that tracks News from official News Feeds as I’d reported in Facebook adds Trending Topics with Paper coming to make reading the News easier. Some recent numbers from Harvard University-based Pew Research Group in a recently concluded Study shed some light on this odd direction being taken by FB. The Types of News we're referring to here on Facebook ranked in order of popularity are: Entertainment Local events, Sports National News coverage Crime International News Science or technology stories Business related coverage The Pew Research Stats break down as follows: 75% see News while looking for something else on Facebook 50% reported or shared one or mor...

Twitter add Photo-Tagging and uploading Multiple Photos as Mobile Social Media Evolves

Twitter has decided to up the ante on Tweeted Photos, which we all know are worth more than a Thousand Words. Only this time, they’ve decided that the more the merrier with a new Tagging Feature and you can also post up to four (4) photos per tweet, a feature that the Twitterati sprung on us on Wednesday March 27th 2014. Sweet! I’ve barely caught sight of Facebook’s new Paper platform for delivering news as I’d written about in Facebook adds Trending Topics with Paper coming to make reading the News easier when Twitter decided to pop back on the scene and remind us why they’re better than Facebook or Instagram, which Big Blue had acquired awhile back in April 2012. This isn’t some boring Logo makeover as reported back in June 2012 in Kelroy’s article Twitter gets a new Logo. Thi...

Skype-ing from your Browser now possible as WhatsApp conspires to kill International Calling

Now that Microsoft has decided to make Lync and Skype see eye-to-eye and even make friends with Google Android as declared at a recent Microsoft Lync Conference back in February 2014, it only seemed fair that they’d begin via doing an improvement of Microsoft Outlook with Skype. A recently refreshed free Browser plug-in that marries Skype and Microsoft Outlook email Service makes Skype Voice and Video calls in HD on Google Chrome, Firefox and Internet Explorer 8 possible. Apple Mac users rejoice; this also goes for you too. I suspect, however, this update of a plug-in that was launched back in March 2013 may be a quiet response to WhatsApp going VoIP Calling, a step up from their previous offer of Voice Notes. WhatsApp has truly be a busy little bee since Facebook acquired them for US$...

Angry Reactions to Youtube’s new Google+ Intergrated Commenting System

The Youtube community of content creators and users alike has been in collective uproar since Google decided to change the commenting system on Youtube and require all users wishing to leave a comment on the video sharing site to have a Google+ account. There are major problems with the new change. users must comment with their Google+account which more often than not is their real name, comments and replies no longer go to your Youtube inbox they now get pushed to Google+ notifications interacting to comments is now a tedious multi-step process, spammers are having a field day plastering spam/virus/malicious links using the new comment system These issues have caused many of the most popular Youtube Channels to disable commenting on their videos and many users have tak...

Yahoo’s Flickr iOS App Gets an Update

When Yahoo acquired Flickr in 2005, Gizmodo lashed out at it calling it a disaster. Flickr once dominated the scene of photo hosting, sharing, and showcase for photographers. Apparently, Yahoo’s acquisition is deemed to have made Flickr, flicker? Maybe Flickr’s “epic humble brag” -- as Gizmodo puts it -- wasn’t so empty after all. It looks like Yahoo is indeed working hard to reach a point where it once was. The fact that is that it’s a crowded market, this one. The likes of Amazon, Apple, Google, and many other smaller companies vie for this space and Yahoo’s struggle is understandable. For a while now, Yahoo has had to work harder than most to keep up its value. Rampant competition, ever-changing dynamics of Internet, and the sheer hunger for “new” on the web has been putting pr...
