Instagram Stories takes aim at Snapchat

Instagram is one of the most popular social media platforms that remains popular despite the dwindling popularity of other social networks like Twitter. Facebook is looking to inject some new life into Instagram by adding features directly ripped from Snapchat. With Instagram Stories, you don’t have to worry about overposting. Instead, you can share as much as you want throughout the day — with as much creativity as you want. You can bring your story to life in new ways with text and drawing tools. The photos and videos will disappear after 24 hours and won’t appear on your profile grid or in feed. read more

It’s been 5 years since Cliff-Twang exclaimed: “Nobody Canna Cross It”

Believe it or not, it's now 5 years to the day that DJ Powa produced and shared a Youtube video that has cemented its place in Jamaica's social media folklore. Titled "Nobody Canna Cross It - Twanging (Refix Video) - DJ Powa"; the video created a social media firestorm that made short-lived stars out of Clifton Brown and DJ Powa. Dozens of radio, TV and newspaper interviews followed for both men as well as endorsement deals; even appearances on reggae/dancehall shows for Clifton. Putting Quirky Interviews to Music The remixing of interviews to music was all the rage back then with Antoine's "Bedroom Intruder" and Sweet Brown "Ain't Nobody Got Time for That" being international standouts but DJ Powa's "Nobody Canna Cross It" brought the phenomenon to Jamaica after a few trials with "Patty...

Now Facebook has a Messenger website for your Desktop

Facebook fans who fell in love their Messenger App on their smartphone separate from the main Facebook App back in July 2014, I've got great news for y'all. Filter Your Words, Not Just Your Photos

#Riverton. Since that fateful day when once again flames engulfed the Riverton Dump the usually robust Jamaican social media space was once again a buzz with over 17,000 tweets going out between March 10th and April 5th 2015 (stats courtesy of Topsy Analytics). Thousands of tweets and posts displaying an array of the emotions of the public spewed forth condemning all and sundry and the Twitter-verse was in a tizzy. Then came the announcement of Obama’s visit and BOOM! the local internet scene exploded. From hilarious videos, to online “polls” and memes the Jamaican social public let loose. But as I scrolled through my timeline and I tittered along to some of the more funny posts about the visit and the preparation activities I could not ignore the darker under belly of some of the posts...

New Year, New You? Get a New App! #NYResolution Check-in

Here we are. Its mid February and i am in shock. Just yesterday i was rolling over to the dawn of a whole new year and some how, between the yawning and stretching, a month ran past! Apart of that rolling over into the New Year process began with me doing something that a bazillion other people across the world did also. We put pen to paper and with blooms of promise budding in our hearts we wrote words of hope for what our 2015 would look like (mostly about what our abs and bank accounts would look for the most part). Yes, those things. Resolutions. Exciting to write but oh so difficult to keep. Or are they? I sat down and spoke to a few people just like me and you who have been working on keeping their resolution achievement on track with a few apps that maybe you would find useful...
