Huawei Mate 8 Review: The Whole Package

It may seem that Huawei appeared out of nowhere a couple of years ago, but this is far from the truth. In fact, this global company, with 16 research and development centers around the world, became the 3rd biggest smartphone manufacturer in 2015, and its success has relied in one key difference: having the best possible hardware, user experience and bang for your money. One of the latest manifestations of this thinking is the powerful Huawei Mate 8, a high end phablet that is set to be a favorite of both business people and media consumers, since Huawei’s Mate line is being marketed for always connected professionals with good taste and a fashion sense. On that same line, when we think of the perfect smartphone, more often than not, we associate this adjective with battery life, pro...

Samsung Galaxy S7 First Impressions

The Samsung Galaxy has received its yearly update. Samsung's flagship device from one of the world's biggest mobile phone maker is definitely an improvement on its predecessor the Samsung Galaxy S6. I have been taking the Samsung Galaxy S7 for a spin as my primary mobile device for the last few days and my first impressions have been mostly positive. More and more our smartphones are becoming one with us and the S7 does a great job of connecting with its owner and responding to our needs. Different owners will have different needs; if my case I am a tech savvy video gaming photographer with very little patience. I've tried hard to my best to put pressure on the S7 but almost all the time I call the phone responds. Need to record a video? snap selfies? send a tweet, check my calendar?...

Periscope finally gets landscape view

Periscope is somewhat of a rising start in the social media world. Since its launch on iOS and Android earlier this year the Periscope team has churned out features often and ironing out many of the kicks associated with their real-time live streaming platform. One of if not the most requested feature for Periscope has been the need to be able to broadcast and view in landscape mode; today that feature was added to the jubilation of many of its users (myself included). When we first launched Periscope, we only supported portrait broadcasting. As much as we’re fans of portrait video, we know that there are times where the scene you’re trying to capture is best expressed in landscape. We know the community has been craving this feature — we wanted to be thoughtful about our approach to e...
