Kodak Zi8 – a cheap little video recording powerhouse

A year ago I became interested in acquiring a small, affordable HD video recorder. After some research and feedback from friends I decided to go with the Kodak Zi8. It cost less than $100 at the time I bought it and could record HD video up to 1080p and 720p video at 60 frames per second for those times when I needed to record fast moving objects. Over the past year I have really gotten used to the Zi8 in a variety of situations from recording video while hiking the Blue Mountains to regular video recording for Youtube and most recently while traveling in Japan. The Zi8 has never failed me and although it may be a little outdated and under-powered now compared to current generation of pocket HD cams it was worth th purchase. I see myself using this cam for at least another year and I am...

F2P Doesn’t Always Mean Bad To Play: League Of Legends

In the past free products have usually been sub standard if not even less than sub standard of their paid counter parts and that goes for games as well. Usually when a title is free one could expect bad graphics, sad sound and or poor gameplay but lately that has been changing as evident with several Free to play (F2P) titles, Leage Of Legends (LoL) being one of them. LoL is not a new title but it has been in constant development with new content being offered almost on a monthly (if not fortnightly) basis usually in the form of new playable characters. League of Legends - LOL as it is affectionately called- is one the latest re-imaginings of Defence of the Ancients – DOTA. DOTA was created by 'Eul' and is currently maintained by 'Icefrog'. DOTA is a Mod made using the Blizzard's War...

Dragon Age 2 – Full Review

With new writers, art direction and gameplay Dragon Age II, the sequel to 2009’s highly acclaimed Dragon Age: Origins, is almost a completely different game so much so that it might be unfair in comparison if it doesn’t stack up to the original. Story The Good: Frame narrated by the blinged dwarf Varric you are now along for the ride as you experience Hawkes rise as the incidental “Champion of Kirkwall”. The story is made of grey morality meaning no one is good or bad it’s all up to your values. Neutral: A number of revisions to the cultures of the elves and Qunari have also been made The Bad: The quest and story progression is setup to feel that your decisions and life just incidentally lead up to the climaxes of the story but doing so removes a sense direction and making yo...

Evolution Of The Netbook – Asus Eee Pc 1015PEM Review

It has been a little over a year now since I have stepped in the mobile computing universe I have always been a strong desktop user and didn’t have or in some cases see the need for having a laptop not to mention thier prices which were not all that  attractive to begin with, so the closest thing I had to mobile computing was my smartphone. After purchasing my first mobile computing device my Samsung NC10 which I also wrote about on Geezam.com in a post titled Netbook Misconception – My NC10 Review. My old Samsung NC10 Netbook will be used as the device of reference when pointing out the advances that Netbooks have undergone. I was surprisingly pleased with its overall performance and reliability and how it made my work days so much easier so after a year odd of basking in the Netbook r...

Call Of Duty: Black Ops PC Review

So its been a while since I have played any FPS and now that the new Call Of Duty (CoD) title is out it was time for me to leave my CoD hibernation and put Call Of Duty: Black Ops through the ropes to see what it was made of.  For all the avid followers of the CoD franchise Black Ops delivers what we have come to expect from the series plus some extras. There is the usual Campaign mode (Single Player), Multiplayer (Online/Network) and an additional “Zombie Mode” which facilitates both solo and online play. A FPS with a Good Story Campaign mode offers the usual story mode experience which is just as good if not slightly better than what I experienced in Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare (MW) & Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 (MW2) and for me that’s a good thing because FPS usually fail te...

Audio-Technica AT2020 USB Condenser Microphone: Product Review

The Audio-Technica AT2020 USB Condenser Microphone has been on the market for a while now but remains one of the best USB microphones available. The AT2020 cardioid condenser microphone meaning it picks up sound optimally from the front with very limited reception from the sides and even less from behind so it is important to place the mic upright and at the right angle when using it. USB powered and the Benefits of Condenser Mics Being USB powered means the AT2020 does not need any additional software or external power source which makes it a very powerful plug and play mic that is easily added to any amateur or semi-professional setup with minimum hassle. Condensor mics are generally more complicated that their dynamic brothers but the trade-off is that they record a wider frequenc...
