Evolution Of The Netbook – Asus Eee Pc 1015PEM Review

It has been a little over a year now since I have stepped in the mobile computing universe I have always been a strong desktop user and didn’t have or in some cases see the need for having a laptop not to mention thier prices which were not all that  attractive to begin with, so the closest thing I had to mobile computing was my smartphone.

After purchasing my first mobile computing device my Samsung NC10 which I also wrote about on Geezam.com in a post titled Netbook Misconception – My NC10 Review. My old Samsung NC10 Netbook will be used as the device of reference when pointing out the advances that Netbooks have undergone. I was surprisingly pleased with its overall performance and reliability and how it made my work days so much easier so after a year odd of basking in the Netbook realm I decided to upgrade but not to a Laptop no not at all but to a better Netbook and now I have in my possession the “Asus Eee PC 1015PEM” which is the subject of this review. Call Of Duty: Black Ops PC Review

So its been a while since I have played any FPS and now that the new Call Of Duty (CoD) title is out it was time for me to leave my CoD hibernation and put Call Of Duty: Black Ops through the ropes to see what it was made of.  For all the avid followers of the CoD franchise Black Ops delivers what we have come to expect from the series plus some extras. There is the usual Campaign mode (Single Player), Multiplayer (Online/Network) and an additional “Zombie Mode” which facilitates both solo and online play.

A FPS with a Good Story

Campaign mode offers the usual story mode experience which is just as good if not slightly better than what I experienced in Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare (MW) & Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 (MW2) and for me that’s a good thing because FPS usually fail terribly when it comes to their story mode.  It is not necessarily that the Black Ops story mode had better content but it was more interactive it seemed to pull in the player more. Audio-Technica AT2020 USB Condenser Microphone: Product Review

The Audio-Technica AT2020 USB Condenser Microphone has been on the market for a while now but remains one of the best USB microphones available. The AT2020 cardioid condenser microphone meaning it picks up sound optimally from the front with very limited reception from the sides and even less from behind so it is important to place the mic upright and at the right angle when using it.

USB powered and the Benefits of Condenser Mics

Being USB powered means the AT2020 does not need any additional software or external power source which makes it a very powerful plug and play mic that is easily added to any amateur or semi-professional setup with minimum hassle. Condensor mics are generally more complicated that their dynamic brothers but the trade-off is that they record a wider frequency range and have a flatter frequency response which means you get a better sound but at a higher price with less durability. Digicel Jamaica Wimax Review Part 2

This is the second part of a 2 part review of the recently launched Digicel Jamaica Wimax service. Part one of there review can be viewed by clicking here. Part one explained Wimax technology as well as giving an overview of the two types of modems that customers of the Digicel Wimax service will use to access the network including installation. In part two I will be covering the following areas:

  1. Subscribing and Account Management
  2. Speed and General Performance
  3. Pricing and Conclusion

Subscribing and Account Management

To start using the service you will need a modem which can be bought at select Digicel outlets as of this writing. Get the CPE modem if your are someone looking for a more fixed solution with the ability to connect multiple laptops and PCs to one connection, get the USB modem if you desire mobility and the ease of setting up. One thing to note however is that if you are living in far rural areas the CPE should be a clear choice because it has a larger antenna surface area which allows it to work in dead spots like where I am living.
