Moto G starts the Christmas fire for Unlocked smartphones

On Wednesday November 13th Google launched yet another Motorola smartphone aside from the Moto X. Check the Official Motorola Moto X Website for that smartphone. However, new debutante was the Motorola Moto G, which went on sale on Tuesday November 26th 2013. Best of all, the Motorola Moto G is now on Amazon! Christmas nice again for online Shoppers! The brother of the Motorola Moto X and is special not because of its specs or it close relationship with its more expensive sibling. Rather, it’s because the Motorola Moto G is the first smartphone from Google packing Google Android Jellybean that’s coming unlocked for a decent price of US$179 and it had solid specs. Don’t believe me? Take a gander at this specs chart compared to the Lumia 520, the ZTE Open and the Samsung Galaxy Ace 3 (3G)...

Google Acquires Motorola Mobility – Weapon of Choice in the IP and Set Top Box Wars

The News of the acquisition of Motorola Mobility by Google for US$12.5 billion drachmas struck me like one of Zeus’ Thunderbolts (A bit of Apple humor there!) on Monday August 15th 2011AD as reported by Ryan Kim of GigaOM. Sanjay Jha, CEO of Motorola Mobility, which had been spun off from Motorola, spoke of the merger, quote: “This transaction offers significant value for Motorola Mobility’s stockholders and provides compelling new opportunities for our employees, customers, and partners around the world. We have shared a productive partnership with Google to advance the Android platform, and now through this combination we will be able to do even more to innovate and deliver outstanding mobility solutions across our mobile devices and home businesses.” Google CEO Larry Paige official ...

Motorola Xoom – 101 on How to Beat the Apple iPad

{14:18} And the men of the city said unto him on the seventh day before the sun went down, What [is] sweeter than honey? and what [is] stronger than a lion? And he said unto them, If ye had not plowed with my heifer, ye had not found out my riddle. - Judges 14 vs 18, King James Version If it is one thing I hate to see as a Tech Writer, is when a perfectly great gadget, with perfectly good beautiful styling, with just everything right…appear to be failing. This stands as a contradiction to us Gadget-lovin’ types, as it would seem that everyone was on the same wave length. I still think the same way about the Sony Walkman. I mean, the sun set on this device on Monday October 25th 2010 when Sony decided to call it quits. But, I oft ponder the example of the iconi...

Motorola and the Xoom – The Empire Strikes Back

From as far back as August 2010, great things were expected of Motorola. The company that started the idea of “trends” long before Apple dipped their hat into the smartphone game in 2007 was the leader in cell phones back in the 80’s when it was still the old analog AMPS. The little company that made the first cell phone, the Dynatac and then later the first flip cell phone, the Startac and relaunched the concept with the successful Motorola Razr phone fell on hard times in 2008. I shall spare many old enough to remember the bad memories and strange signals coming out of Motorola and instead get straight to the creamy filling in the cupcake. Motorola is back, thanks to Google Android 2.2 OS aka Froyo, which was used extensively on its new line of Star Wars themed smartphones. Motorola a...
