WhatsApp now 100% free

WhatsApp Messenger is a cross-platform mobile messaging app which allows you to exchange messages without having to pay for SMS. It has exploded in popularity with over 1 billion users worldwide. It is available for iOS, Android, Blackberry, Windows phones and Nokia phones. Though it has taken some flack for being insecure it has become an affordable alternative to SMS and even phone calls. After the first year of free use many users were prompted to pay US$0.99 to keep using the service but going forward that fee will be removed. WhatsApp will no longer charge subscription fees. For many years, we've asked some people to pay a fee for using WhatsApp after their first year. As we've grown, we've found that this approach hasn't worked well. Many WhatsApp users don't have a debit or ...

Now Facebook has a Messenger website for your Desktop

Facebook fans who fell in love their Messenger App on their smartphone separate from the main Facebook App back in July 2014, I've got great news for y'all. Now Facebook has a launched the Messenger website for your Desktop on Wednesday April 8th 2015. The Facebook Messenger Website works as advertized; Messenger but in a Browser format, marking freedom of Messenger from Facebook both on your smartphone and Tablet and now on the Desktop. It's a lot like the Messenger App you're already familiar with on your smartphone except it has a three (3) column layout. The Left column lists your conversations, a Settings Button and a Compose Button. The Middle column shows your current conversation or one that you've selected out of the many simultaneous chats you're might be having. The...

WhatsApp’s new Double Blue Checkmarks proves controversial

WhatsApp recently undated its super popular messaging app to include a feature that lets users know when their message is read. I have coined it the "Blue Tick" controversy as social media and water-coolers worldwide have exploded with discussion about the new update and what it means. Some have welcomed the update stating that saying that the previous system of one grey tick to show the message has been sent and another to show the message was delivered to the recipients device was not enough. Now when the both checkmarks turn blue message senders will know for sure that the message has been eyeballed by the recipient. That is where the vocal opposition comes in as many argue that actually letting the sender know you have read the message is anywhere from stressful to an invasion of pr...

Skype-ing from your Browser now possible as WhatsApp conspires to kill International Calling

Now that Microsoft has decided to make Lync and Skype see eye-to-eye and even make friends with Google Android as declared at a recent Microsoft Lync Conference back in February 2014, it only seemed fair that they’d begin via doing an improvement of Microsoft Outlook with Skype. A recently refreshed free Browser plug-in that marries Skype and Microsoft Outlook email Service makes Skype Voice and Video calls in HD on Google Chrome, Firefox and Internet Explorer 8 possible. Apple Mac users rejoice; this also goes for you too. I suspect, however, this update of a plug-in that was launched back in March 2013 may be a quiet response to WhatsApp going VoIP Calling, a step up from their previous offer of Voice Notes. WhatsApp has truly be a busy little bee since Facebook acquired them for US$...
