Ron Muschette announces he is going to Mello FM and more via his Youtube Channel

An emotional Ron Muschette via his Youtube Channel has announced that he will be moving to Mello FM after quitting his job at Irie FM recently. Mr Muschette is most popularly known on Jamaica's radio airwaves as the host of the leading morning program ‘Wake –Up Call which airs 6:00 AM – 10:00 AM Monday to Friday. The Rise of Social Media What I believe is interesting about this story is that he chose social media as the avenue to make the announcement using a excellently produced video via his Youtube Channel. As a IT professional following the rise of technology, ICT and social media in Jamaica and the wider Caribbean over the years I think this marksa powerful shift and interesting precedent. Watch the video embedded above and share your thoughts on the news as well as the way i...

“The roadmap says we have the capability to do that — to increment to 66GB or maybe 100GB. those things are under study,”  VP of Panasonic’s Hollywood lab Ron Martin and member of the Blu-ray Disc Association, speaking on the future of the 4K Blu Ray Discs What’s a UHDTV (Ultra High Definition Television) without content, you may ask? A really expensive picture frame! Or in the case of the Curved U9000 Series of UHDTV which I had the chance to see and experience as I’ve chronicled in Samsung unveils their First Curved Ultra High Definition TV, the U9000 Series at Mona Visitors Lodge, a really large curved picture frame. Fortunately the Blu-Ray Disc Association has come our rescue with UHDTV or 4K Blu-Ray Discs, seeing as 4K, which has resolutions as high as 4 times 1080p or , 3...

Jamaica’s Meteorological Service Twitter account ordered closed after Climate Change disagreement with Politician

UPDATE: Met Service releases official statement about suspended Twitter Account A social media storm is brewing on Twitter after the official Twitter account for the Meteorological Service of Jamaica was ordered closed by management after an apparent disagreement with North East St. Elizabeth Member of Parliament and Deputy General Secretary for the People's National Party Raymond Pryce. The fallout started due to a disagreement over whether climate change was indeed happening and provable scientifically. Jamaica was experiencing drought conditions for many months until mid May when the traditionally rainy month brought numerous days of heavy rain which ended the drought. As is usually the case when there is a heavy downpour sections of the island were negatively affected. Below is ...

Twitter add Photo-Tagging and uploading Multiple Photos as Mobile Social Media Evolves

Twitter has decided to up the ante on Tweeted Photos, which we all know are worth more than a Thousand Words.  Only this time, they’ve decided that the more the merrier with a new Tagging Feature that’s sure to raise fears of Big Brother. Not only that, you can also post up to four (4) photos per tweet, both features that the Twitterati sprung on us on Wednesday March 27th 2014. Sweet! I’ve barely caught sight of Facebook’s new Paper platform for delivering News as I’d written about in Facebook adds Trending Topics with Paper coming to make reading the News easier when Twitter decided to pop back on the scene and remind us why they’re better than Facebook or Instagram, which Big Blue had acquired awhile back in April 2012. This isn’t some boring Logo makeover as reported back in J...

New Twitter Profiles more than just a Facebook-like Redesign

A new Twitter design is coming; if fact it has already arrived for a select few celebrity tweeters like Michelle Obama, Floyd Mayweather and the lovely Kerry Washington. The early verdict seems to be that the new design is just a ripoff of Facebook's design but those with a keen eye will see how much of an improvement the updates will be for Twitter users. Twitter's growth has stagnated in recent months but it still remains very relevant and useful. The new design comprises of a new wide background photo with profile picture at the top but that's where the Facebook similarities end. New information for profiles include a "date joined" section listing the month and year the user joined Twitter. However the big three updates for the new Twitter are Best Tweets: Tweets that have receiv...

Some recent numbers from Harvard University-based Pew Research Group in a recently concluded Study shed some light on this odd direction being taken by FB. The Types of News we're referring to here on Facebook ranked in order of popularity are: Entertainment Local events, Sports National News coverage Crime International News Science or technology stories Business related coverage The Pew Research Stats break down as follows: 75% see News while looking for something else on Facebook 50% reported or shared one or mor...
