System76 Lemur: My Purebred Linux Laptop

As an advocate for Open Source Technology, I've put my money where my mouth is and purchased a purebred-Linux based laptop, the System76 Lemur. I'm pleased with this purchase and I'll be sharing a few bells and whistle along with the deltas that I've noticed over the past seven months.   , you may not have heard of this company before but they are a US based computer reseller store with their primary focus on preinstalled-Linux notebooks, desktops and servers. They partner with the electronics manufacturer, Chicony, in packaging some beautiful hardware products for their customers.   Why I purchased it? First I'm not a fanboy for System76. But I do put my money where my mouth is and being a supporter of Open Source, it is incumbent upon me to support an organisa...

How to locate Missing Drivers for Older Laptops and Computers

Again another set of chronicles from my life as a roadie fixin’ computers. It’s not an easy life dealing with older folk, many of whom harbor this notion that they brought the “best Computer” at the time only for me to tell them that PC’s get old every 2 human years. In most cases I’m lucky to even shoehorn Windows OS be it Windows XP or 7 onto these very slow devices as described in Tips and Tricks on how to make your Computer run faster. Locating Device Drivers, the software that mediates between the OS (Operating System) and the motherboard’s attached stepchildren is another m...

Google Introduces new $249 Chromebook

We are a fan og the Google Chromebook here on Geezam.com but the biggest snagging point for us so far has been the price. $400+ for what many critics describe as a a"pseudo laptop" is too expensive especially with an abundance of tablets, Windows netbooks and even some laptops in that price range. Google seems to be listening and has announced a cheaper, slimmer, smaller Chromebook built by Samsung. Still not at the $199 sweet-spot we'd recommend but a necessary step in the right direction. Would you buy one? Link to the details below: THE $249 LAPTOP FROM GOOGLE

Sony Vaio T Series – Perfect Ultrabook for School and the Stylish Proffessional

July to September has traditionally been a good time to go shopping for a new computer. For a few months I had been looking for a new mobile computer to replace my underpowered netbook, and although tempted I decided against getting a tablet as I required functionality that tablet just didn't offer or couldn't do well enough. After weeks of research, I decided to get an ultrabook from the new Sony Vaio T Series line and after almost a month of using it I thought I'd provide this write-up of my experience with my shiny new gadget. I bought this new mobile computer primarily for school (notes, browsing, research) and blogging (writing, light photo and video editing). It replaces a Netbook I have used for just over a year and my primary reason for upgrading was that I needed more processin...

The Real Netbook Killers: My Impressions of Acer Aspire Timelinex Series

Consumers just love to discuss what is going to "kill" what, when the Laptop was released it was suppose to be the "Desktop killer" but Desktops are still going strong as they are the bread a butter of serious PC gamers, enthusiasts and professionals who are heavily involved in animation, video and even audio production.  When the PDA was released it was suppose to be the "Laptop Killer" and it would seem that the PDA never really caught on like the wildfire it was suppose to be (even though the potential was there) and it basically phased out and Laptops are still quite alive and kicking and in a way some labelled the Netbook as a "Laptop Killer". So there really is no surprise that many have labelled the Tablet as a "Netbook Killer" some even have gone as far in some extreme cases lab...
