The Two Towers of Tablets, 7” Amazon Kindle Fire and 7.9” Apple iPad are the Global Tablet size of Choice

“It seems people especially like the size….. [it's] lighter, slimmer and easier to carry” DisplaySearch analyst David Hsieh in an interview with CNET News related to the Apple iPad Mini’s potential in December 2012 PC and Laptops are being slowly being killed off by the Apple iPhone and now the Apple iPadin line with my predictions in “How the Apple iPad killed Ultrabooks, Printing and the Mouse as the World Rediscovers Tablets”. But it’s what happening in the Tablet world since March 2013 that suddenly come up on my stats radar. This as the stars are falling into alignment in 2013 for Global Tablets domination, ironically by 7” Tablets. According to analyst Adobe’s Digital Index Report in March 2013, Tablets now surpass Smartphones in Internet Traffic: 8% of Global Internet...

IHS iSuppli reveals e-Readers are poised for explosive growth in the Developing World

IHS iSuppli recently outed a study with some projections that suggest that e-Readers made by companies that are not makers of content will see a decline in sales of the gadget in the next five (5) years. To be precise: 36% decline in Global Sales in 2012 27% decline in Global Sales in 2013 They’ve even produced a graphic to bolster this view of e-Readers: Looks like Tablet may also be killing e-Readers too; add that to the hit-list already annunciated in my article How the Apple iPad killed Ultrabooks, Printing and the Mouse as the World Rediscovers Tablets. Worse, IHS iSuppli’s claiming the growth potential exists only in the impoverished Developing World, such as Second after market devices: Eastern Europe Russia Africa India I’m surprised they didn’t mention t...

Amazon is Legally Blonde as the Kindle Fire HD Upgrade is CEO Bezos’s Confessions of an Online Shopaholic

The Amazon Kindle Fire launch on Thursday September 6th 2012 in Santa Monica, California got the major Press Release treatment on our blog by Chief Editor Kelroy in his article Amazon Introduces new Kindle Fire HD Family of Tablets. Locally, as many Jamaicans with deep pockets ponder buying their little one the new Kindle Fire HD, ACS-Xerox, now called simply Xerox is a hive of busy training and preparation. This as since Sunday September 2nd 2012, they have begun their annual Ramp-up Campaign for the seasonal and (possibly year long!) increase in Amazon customer Calls for what CEO Jeff Bezos has declared is Amazon’s most successful product to date; The Amazon Kindle Fire! Back to back hell for CSA on the Amazon .com and Amazon.co.uk accounts Amazon has now outed three (3) new Kindle F...

Less than one year ago, Amazon introduced Kindle Fire—combining 15 years of innovation into a fully-integrated, end-to-end service for customers. Kindle Fire quickly became the most successful product launch in the history of Amazon.com, earning over 10,000 5-star customer reviews, remaining the #1 best-selling product across the millions of items available on Amazon since its introduction, and capturing 22% of U.S. tablet sales in just nine months. Today, Amazon is excited to announce that it’s taking on the high-end with Kindle Fire HD—the next generation of Kindle Fire. How to make a Stylus for your Apple iPad or Capacitive-Touch Device

Now the Apple iPad 3 has finally landed, coverage for which was brought to you via my article Three’s a Charm as Apple iPad 3 Looms Large, we can start the dissection of the specs. Alas, this is not the article for it, as I am yet to get the buzzing out of my ears as it relates to the way in which the Apple iPad is still blowing away the competition with its amazing specs.  Ok. Calm Apple fans, calm. Chillax…..Google still ain’t got game, albeit the Amazon Kindle Fire is….. blazin’ as kindled in Apple needs to consider a 7” Tablet as the million-selling Amazon Kindle Fire is Razor Sharp. So now that you have recovered for the fact that the Apple iPad has Retina Display, supports 4G , specifically LTE (Long Term Evolution) and Bluetooth 4.0 (a machine talking to machines is a bad idea…....

Amazon sells 5.5 million Kindle Fires in Fourth Quarter 2012 – Apple iPad sales drop and plans January Press Event

Happy New Year to all my loyal Fans of my posts! If you can read this, then your tech spirit is still alive despite the lackluster showing of innovation at the CES (Computer Electronics Show) 2012AD, my early out-take on a year that is already set to be dominated by Apple iPhone, Apple iPad and Amazon Kindle Fire and smartphone (??) rumour news. But on to the news, folks! The comments last year were encouraging and now this year is even more so for e-Readers, if the Sunday January 1st 2012AD article is to be believed. The article in our local Sunday Newspaper painted a picture of a device from a company that was not associated with Tech Products but is now popular with everyone, even Jamaicans. Truly 2012 is set to be the Year of the e-Reader, as the Amazon Kindle Fire is off to a great ...

Apple needs to consider a 7” Tablet as the million-selling Amazon Kindle Fire is Razor Sharp

The Amazon Kindle Fire is on a roll. Or if you are a fan of cliché phrases, they are on Fire. According to Amazon’s Press Release on Thursday December 15th 2011, they were selling one million of these 7” inch lollipops of Netflix and e-book nirvana per week. Now although I am gainfully employed at one of the Call Centers, namely ACS-Xerox, that has the privilege of handling calls with regards to Amazon’s accounts, I am a bit skeptical of this number. It is true that the Amazon Kindle Fire is (again cliché alert!!) a hot seller. But with the Kindle Touch and the Kindle Wi-Fi being markedly cheaper at US$99 and US$79 respectively, I am more inclined to believe that the bulk of those one million (1,000,000) Kindles sold per week since launch on Wednesday September 28th 2011AD three (3) mo...

Amazon Kindle Fire vs the Apple iPad – The Stats Wars worth Reading About

The Amazon Kindle Fire is certainty putting on the heat on the Apple iPad. So was my presumption in my two (2) prior articles. First I jumped the gun and declared the Amazon Kindle a worth opponent, a well baked ham sliced neatly in my article Amazon lights a Kindle Fire as a Gladiator worthy of the Apple iPad. Since then I made a price analysis in the article Kindle Fire vs Nook Color and Apple iPad 2 – Despite the Specs the Price is Still Right and came out swinging in favour of the Amazon Kindle Fire despite the specs laden Apple iPad and its likewise worthy but otherwise half-baked opponent  the Barnes and Noble Nook Color. To be fair, the Barnes and Noble Nook Color has put some pep in its step and has come out of its corner swinging with an offer as compelling as the Amazon Kindl...
