Get Smart 101: Tips for Smart Social Media Sharing

Everything on the internet is NOT true. Bombshell? Hardly. But everyday I scroll through my timeline I am overwhelmed with the urge to make those words my cover photo as a desperate reminder to some of my FB connections because time after time I encounter, as my friend would so eloquently call, "cow pon mackerel tin" i.e foolishness. We all have that person on our timeline who discovers a VERY IMPORTANT article just floating in their timeline (Michael Jackson died 20 years ago guys! We've been watching his clone!). They "read" it and then, 10 seconds later (because thats how long it takes to skim through the "details") they are consumed with such outrage or bowled over with such awesomeness that for a whole minute this article is what they rave about. That is, until they find ANOTHER re...

5 Tips for a Very Merry Christmas for you and your Smartphone

Tis fast approaching that time again when that crisp breeze has just started to blow and the urge for sorrel, ham and freeness begins to gain momentum. It is also a time where we prepare to fight, not for the last slice of cake, but to hold on to our most prized possessions because with the Christmas cheer also comes an increase in theft. Hold-ups and shake downs become common place as our urban “Robbing” Hoods come to take from the have’s (read YOU and ME) to give to the have not’s (Read THEM, Tisha Baby mother #1 and Staci Babymother #2) Yea I get it, they want to have iPhones and Galaxys too, but if you are anything like me you would rather save your charity work for the Salvation Army so here are a few tips to help you keep you and your favourite mobile device stay connected! ...

How to recover smartphone SD Card with Photos, Video and Music taken from a Blackberry

So, you’ve messed up yet again, haven’t you? You forgot the cardinal rule of transferring SD Cards between Blackberry and smartphones: Back up your photos and audio as I’d pointed out in my article How to transfer Phone Contacts and Data from your Blackberry to your Apple iPhone or Google Android smartphone or Tablet. Believe it or not, you CAN’T just take the SD Card out of your Blackberry and insert it into your brand New DL600, DL700 or whatever smartphone and expect it to just “pick them up”, to use the common parlance of the non-techie. Smartphones are programmed to regard all SD Cards as potentially new media to place fresh data i.e. Photos, Video and Music files. To that end, once you insert a SD Card from anywhere, including your old Blackberry, it’ll format the SD Card to...

How to connect Xbox One controller to any Computer or Laptop

I’m not much of a game-head myself, but I do love Microsoft’s Xbox One and especially its nifty controller. Fits the hand like a glove and very comfortable too, it makes for a great way to full take advantage of the advance graphics that this Gaming Machine’s packin’. Not me, I’m a PC and Laptop guy; not into Gaming Systems wither, as they frequently change and in my view, are being and will be made extinct by Tablets as concluded in Apple iPad Air’s the World Thinnest Tablet and Apple iPad Mini 2’s a 3DS and Vita killer Gear of War just became my summer Friend along with the traditional Servings of Super Mario Land, Sonic the Hedgehog, Retro Arcade Style and yes…..I’m very much into TitanFall too. My other favourite titles aren’t much to speak of, but I love em’ to bitz: War Thu...

How to backup your Gmail Email should disaster Strike

Hello again gentle reader! A few commentaries on my article Portable Email Clients for USB Drives makes Sending Email Safe and Mobile indicated to me that Mozilla Thunderbird can be used as a means of backing up one’s Email, specifically Gmail! That person commented, as it struck them as odd that I wrote about doing Backups in terms of Physical Media as explained in How to do Physical Backup using DVD and CD and a Listing of the best software Burning DVD and CD’s and software as per my other more famous article How to Backup you Data using the a List of the Best Free Backup Solutions, yet I never touched on the idea of doing a backup of Email. Good to point out that this does indeed exist and is a bit of an oversight. But then, that’s why write; I learn something new everyday! To thi...

Google Alerts Diamond in the Rough coming to Google+ to deliver Technology News

Yes, I can now stop parsing CNET, Digital Trends, Forbes, GigaOM on Twitter for the latest Technology News. I’ve just rediscovered Google Alerts, a apparently long forgotten Internet tool that allows you to track your favourite thing as its published online. Look on it as the equivalent of signing up for RSS Feeds in Mozilla Thunderbird as described in Portable Email Clients for USB Drives makes Sending Email Safe and Mobile or even Google Reader, but able to scan the Google Search Provider instead of just a select set of News sources. I’m still not quite sold on it though, as an article published in Forbes by writer Kashmir Hill seems to suggest it’s not working properly. So I’ve decided to give it a whirl, especially after I realized that artiste Katy Perry used Google Alerts to keep t...

Change the Default Search Engine of any Browser when Malware is on your Computer

And the Crowd goes wild for my article How to reset the Default Search Engine in Mozilla Firefox on changing the Default Search Engine in Mozilla.  Apparently an awful lot of people seem to have the very common problem, as it’s really irritating when your Browser seems to change all by itself to another Search Engine and you had no hand in it. Also note too it isn’t a “Search Engine” but a “Search Engine Provider”, a really fancy-pants way of saying that Search Engine Provider companies offer more Products and Service than just Internet Search in a manner similar to Telecom Providers providing other services other than just Voice Calling. But then begs the question? Who did? Short answer: Malware with a Marketing Agenda, Mad Men style, called adware! First, I’ll explain how one changes ...

How to Repair a Broken Screen on a Smartphone or Tablet

If you’re reading this then it either means you either miraculously survived the New Years or you have a Tablet or Smartphone with a broken Screen, a common ailment that afflicts many Millennials (ages 18 to 28) who can’t live without their “precious”. Apparently, the New Year isn’t starting off so great for you if it’s the latter as it indicates you didn’t take my advice and get a Screen Protector for your Tablet as per my article How to make your own Cleaning Fluid and Cleaning Tips for your Smartphone or Tablet.   At that point you may be mourning over your broken Tablet or Smartphone and wondering why you got yourself suckered into the “smart” Crowd, a rapidly growing Crowd in Jamaica as described in StudyBlue reveals Smartphones, Tablets make you smarter – The Big Bang The...
