Google voted Best American Employer of 2015

When it comes to working in America, few places evoke as much awe and admiration as Silicon Valley. Granted, Silicon Valley and their mainly Software Engineers aren't top earners, ranking fourth in NACE (National Association of Colleges and Employers) listing compiled back in as noted in “Engineering Degrees are among the Top Earning Degrees in the USA for Jamaican College Students”. But employee perks aside from pay such a free Day Care and generous health benefits will sway the minds of many and intern and potential employee to consider a company solely on these sweeteners. Financial Magazine Forbes and analyst Statista suspected this and decide to quiz some 200,000 American workers with the following question: which employer, on a scale of 1 to 10 in America’s technology sector...

Google Play Store Apps with AdWare threat to Android Security

“When you install Durak, it seems to be a completely normal and well working gaming app. This was the same for the other apps. This impression remains until you reboot your device and wait for a couple of days. After a week, you might start to feel there is something wrong with your device. Some of the apps wait up to 30 days until they show their true colors.”  Avast's malware analyst Filip Chytry commenting on the Avast blog about the  Aware found in three (3) Apps on the Google Play Store People in Google Android land totin' Smartphone!! Android 4.4 KitKat, which made its debut on October 2013, is slowly munching away at Android 4.2 Jellybean, according to the latest numbers put out on the Android Developers Dashboard. Google and Novartis develop Contact Lenses to Detect Blood Sugar and cure Blindness

Google’s heading into the Pharmaceutical Industry, as they’ve made a partnership with Novartis to produce the Google Contact Lenses for which they’d applied for a patent back in April 2014. Alas, no mini-cameras will be in these Contact Lenses. Instead, Google is designing them with the help of Novartis Pharmaceutical know-how to monitor Blood and Glucose sugar levels for Diabetes patients and relay that info via Bluetooth to a smartphone App. Google Contact Lenses – Smartphone connected Contact Lenses for Diabetes Detection This deal is really between Google Project X Team and the Alcon eyewear division at Novartis. They'll be designing a small Contact Lenses that contains a low power microchip with gold-wire hair thin electronics circuitry and antenna. In collaboration with N...

Android KitKat beats Jellybean in the Fragmented World of Android smartphones

Google on Wednesday August 13th 2014 has released their Android Developer Dashboard Stats and I'm personally excited by what's happening here; people are slowly warming up to the chocolately chewy goodness of Google Android KitKat. KitKat is now at 20.9% of the marketshare that represents devices that use Android, albeit technically this is mainly smartphones. All this excitement over data collected from Tuesday August 5th 2014 to Tuesday August 12th 2014, as the month isn't over yet Still it's a developing Trend. These latest stats are as shown below and are an improvement on Android KitKat 13% showing in June 2014 and 17.9% in July 2014. That’s another surprise; Gingerbread is still around at 13.6% and is a statistical outlier as it’s the third largest Android OS grouping instea...

Google I/O 2014: Android and Chromecast expand as Google tries to conquer Home and Automobiles

Google I/O Conference indicates that at the Dawning of the Sun, they are still on track to take over the World, at least in your Home and Automobiles, Pinky and the Brain Style. I’d long predicted this was coming in 2015 when they’d mentioned it at Google I/O back in 2011 as prophesied in Apple’s Revolution: Android @ Home and IceCream Sandwich in 2015AD. It’s basically an attack on the following fronts: Streaming TV with Android TV Cheaper smartphones with AndroidOne Android in your vehicle with Google Auto Android Wear OS  on their flagship LG G Watch Android is entering the Streaming TV Platform World, currently Apple iTV playground, which is now being tapped by the Amazon Fire TV! Google Chromecast packing a slew of new Apps, more Streaming Content and Android Device Remot...

Google Contact Lenses with Cameras will be Next-Gen Google Glass Smartphone Replacement

Google has gone and done it with this most recent patent filing in March 2014 with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office that puts out there the idea of a pair of Contact Lenses with Cameras built in. If Google Glass wasn't creepy enough, Google has decided to up the ante with Contact Lenses that have Cameras built in, which they claim, is mainly geared at helping the visually impaired. Albeit just a patent filing, it's too much of a coincidence that the last story I did on Contact Lenses with embedded Electronics for Augmented Reality also came to light in November 2011, a year before Google Glass went live. Back then Dr. Babak Praviz of the University of Washington in Seattle published work in New Scientist about Contact Lenses with embedded electronics that allowed the transmission of...
