Quicks Tips for new Star Wars: The Old Republic players

Star Wars: The Old Republic has burst unto the MMO scene and is already enjoying a healthy following. Reviews and opinions so far have been mixed but slightly more positive. Many gamers know that an MMORPG is never really truly "complete" and it is up to Bioware, EA and their teams to ensure that they game receives regular updates, fixes and fresh content to keep the players satisfied. I have been playing SWTOR since I received my early access email in mid December and below are some quick tips for players new to Star Wars: The Old Republic. Rested XP - Rested XP is a mechanic used in many MMOs that allows players to gain experience points above the normal rate for a period of time after logging off in a safe zone or city. In Star Wars the Old Republic rested XP can be gained from ...

Star Wars: The Old Republic to make a big splash in the MMORPG pool

Massively Multiplayer Online Roleplaying Games have come a long way since the days of Ultima Online and Everquest. The genre has seen massive growth on the back on every increasing internet speeds, newer and better computers and more and more persons having access to games and the internet. These days there are literally hundreds of MMOs in various fantasy, historical, real life and scifi lands but the biggest shark in the pool has for a a long while been World of Warcraft. I have for as long as I can remember been an avid gamer and I remember trying my hand at WoW in it's early days but it was a pass-time that didn't stick for various reasons. Before that I had dabbled with Final Fantasy XI plus many more paid and free MMOs between then and now and my most recent MMO "trial" came with ...

EA’s Tetris on a US$30 yearly subscription: VIP for Casual & Smartphone Gaming Addicts

As I noted in a previous blog article MineCraft - Indie hit is Social Gaming's Cinderella on the gradual rise of the Block building game Minecraft, I am no gamehead. But I ain't blind either, o ye who read and who are gamers as the meteoric rise of the casual gamer has not gone unnoticed by the clever eyes of EA (Electronics Arts). EA's a console gaming developer that's gradually developing and appetite for Social and Casual Gaming with recent purchases of PlayFish as the tide of fortunes begin to go against them. Especially seeing as how the subscription model for Premium Gaming is predicted to go the way of the dodo, with the rise of the Freemium model making Premium Gaming look like Grand Theft Auto crime scene as per my spiel in Smartphones and Apps -Freemium Games are No. 1. ...

Star Wars The Old Republic Beta Impressions

Can you feel it?  Yes the force is coming, it is a bit early to gauge its strength but it is definitely on its way. One by one classic scifi franchises have either attempted to (Stargate Worlds) or have already entered (Star Trek Online) the Mass Multiplayer Online Role Playing Game (MMORPG) universe.  So it is no surprise that a classic with the weight and following as Star Wars, that LucasArts have officially decided to wet their feet in the MMORPG realm as well with Star Wars The Old Republic “SWTOR” (seeing that Sony has already released two other Star Wars titles “Star Wars Galaxies” pay to play (P2P) and “Star Wars Clone Wars” (F2P). The beta was for the most part a smooth process, doing its job by giving testers a taste of what they can look forward to from SWTOR or perhaps reaso...

The Sims Social taking Facebook by storm

The Sims franchise spans over ten years and many games. It is a life simulation game that has sold millions and is well known all over the world. Electronic Arts has unleashed a very addictive version of the Sims on Facebook called "The Sims Social" a game that takes aspects of the PC version of the game while mixing in social interactions and elements from some other popular casual games. The Sims Social is reported to be the fastest growing Facebook game ever which is not very surprising given it's popularity and appeal to casual gamers. I have been taking the game for a spin over the past few days and made the video below to highlight some of the features of the game.
