LIME Caribbean’s US$1.05B Major Network Upgrade – Boost to Regional Economies

Regional economies are set to receive a big boost as CWC, LIME's parent company, mobilizes 'Project Marlin' - its US$1.05b investment-led strategy. This major network upgrade investment of US$1.05b represents a 30% or a US$250m CAPEX increase over the previous year. By this increased spend on network upgrade, LIME brings the latest telecoms technology - island-wide Superfast 4G and 4G LTE plus Superfast fibre optic Broadband to its Caribbean markets. The thirteen Caribbean markets that make up the LIME portfolio will receive major benefits as a result of this network upgrade investment. Barbados has now received a US$80m upgrade. Additionally, they are soon to complete the first phase of the fibre to the home roll-out to enable customers to, among other things, enjoy Broadband speeds of...

Digicel Cable and Submarine Fiber Optic Acquisitions point to 4G LTE based Caribbean Streaming TV

Digicel has been a busy shopper since 2013. After recently acquiring a Cable TV license from TATT (Telecommunications Authority of Trinidad & Tobago) as reported in my article Digicel acquires Trinidad and Tobago Cable TV License as Caribbean Fiber Optic Network Expands, I though a quick review was quite appropriate. Samsung Z running Tizen OS fails to enter Russian Market hints at Caribbean and Latin American Launch

Samsung just can’t seem to get a break. The Samsung Z9000 ZEQ, more popularly known as the Samsung Z smartphone, failed to Launch in Russia this week of Sunday July 6th 2014. No reasons have been forthcoming, but based on the fact that this smartphone's running Tizen OS, it's not hard to guess the problem: lack of faith by Russian Carriers in the new and as-yet untried Tizen OS. This was most likely the same reason the Samsung Z failed to launch in Japan on NTT DoCoMo Network in January 2014, as the operators of that Network feared it wouldn’t' do well against Google Android based smartphones. Not familiar with the Samsung Z? It made its debut at the MWC (Mobile World Congress) in 2013 as I'd explained in my article “Mobile World Congress 2013 in Barcelona announces Huawei Asce...
