Exploring the Path of Exile beta

Path of Exile is an action role-playing game from Grinding Gear Games set in a dark fantasy world. It popped unto my radar because many were calling it the spiritual successor to Diablo II, a game that sucked away dozens of hours of my life back when it was released. The open beta for Path of Exile started in late January and from following the media and news releases I was intrigued enough download and try the game and I do not regret doing so. Path of Exile is free-to-play but has excellent graphics and hack and slash gameplay that coupled with a unique gem based ability system is an interesting online game. The player takes control of one of six "Exiles" (hence the name) - a witch, marauder, ranger, duelist, shadow and my favorite a templar. The classes focus one or two of 3 main sta...

Guild Wars 2 Beta shows off a MMO with something for everyone

From June 8th to 10th I participated in my second Guild Wars 2 closed beta event, the one before that running from April 27 through April 29 2012. While I see definite updates and upgrades between the two beta events I continue to be impressed by Guild Wars 2 and what it offers to fans on massively multiplayer online role-playing games. With no subscription fees coming from a highly respected studio it is no surprise that Guild Wars 2 in the most anticipated games of 2012. The first feeling I got from Guild Wars 2 is that it is definately made by people with a lot of experience with MMORPGs. Personally I am still very much a MMO noob though I have dabbled a bit with vanilla WoW back in the day and romped around in Rift for the first few weeks of it's release. The bulk of my MMO experien...

Google Chrome now in Beta for Android

Google Chrome has been steadily climbing the browser charts since it was first released in 2008, it recently overtook Firefox as the world's second most popular browser. It still has some ways to overthrow Internet Explorer but Chrome has decided to set out to conquer fresh new territory - this time on mobile phones and tablets running Android. The browser lands on Android aren't uninhabited however with the likes of Firefox Mobile,  Dolphin Browser and Opera Mobile already building colonies of fans. Google Chrome for Android was released in beta not long ago but is only available for mobile devices running Android 4.0, which sucks for people who haven't got an Ice Cream Sandwich powered phone and double sucks for people like me still rocking Android 2.2. Chrome for Android like it's bi...

Try out a new YouTube layout by joining their Cosmic Panda experiment

YouTube is one of the most popular websites on the internet and allows users to upload, share and view videos for free. Test Tube is a side project conducted by YouTube in order to get user feedback on their latest project developments before they are incorporated into the general website if any at all. The latest addition to YouTube's Test Tube is an experimental version of the site called Cosmic Panda. Users can easily visit the Test Tube section of the website or go directly to youtube.com/cosmicpanda  to enable the experimental layout. You can easily switch back to the normal layout anytime. The changes are quite well done with new features and options for videos, channel pages, playlists, comments and more. My favourite feature of Cosmic Panda is the ability to choose the la...
