Hearthstone now available on iOS and Android Mobile Phones

Hearthstone: Heroes of Warcraft is a fast-paced strategy card game that is deceptively simple and insanely fun. It has been around for over a year and was only previously only playable on computers and tablets. Blizzard has now launched a version for mobile phones that should prove to be very popular.   The mobile version features a custom board and layout for the smaller screens of smartphones. All progress made while playing Hearthstone on mobile is also synced with your account so cards you unlocked or will unlock while playing will be available no matter what platform you play on. Amazon to Acquire Twitch

Amazon.com, Inc. (NASDAQ: AMZN) today announced that it has reached an agreement to acquire Twitch Interactive, Inc., the leading live video platform for gamers. In July, more than 55 million unique visitors viewed more than 15 billion minutes of content on Twitch produced by more than 1 million broadcasters, including individual gamers, pro players, publishers, developers, media outlets, conventions and stadium-filling esports organizations. “Broadcasting and watching gameplay is a global phenomenon and Twitch has built a platform that brings together tens of millions of people who watch billions of minutes of games each month – from The International, to breaking the world record for Mario, to gaming conferences like E3. Editorial: Amazon Fire Phone

Kemory Grubb - Associate Editor Jeff Bezos described the phone as one that was built for Amazon Prime members. The phone is built on a fork of the Android Open Source Project, which means its Android 4.2 stripped of all Google's closed source services/apps. So Amazon is replacing Google Play Services with Amazon Prime, this not much of a problem since Amazon does provide a well stocked app marketplace. It can be assumed that this phone is not being marketed to users outside North America. In addition to that the phone is being released exclusively on the AT&T network. If Amazon makes an international version of the phone available, the phone itself doesn't present much that would make a potential buyer forego a Samsung, LG, Motorola or any other established brand. The notable "in...

Amazon Fire is a Volkswagen for Amazon Prime subscribers that’ll drive shop-on-the-go Online Obsession

The US$199 Amazon Fire smartphone on a 2 year contract is already destined for superstardom, as it’s got great genes like its parents, the7” Amazon Kindle Fire Tablet launched in 2011 and the Amazon Fire TV recently launched in April 2014. It’s already a part of the great tradition of products that Amazon has launching that take advantage of people’s propensity to make snap decisions to buy products. This phenomenon is started off with you making rational left-brained decisions, only for your less logical right-brain to kick in, with your emotions getting the better of you, resulting in impulsive buying. In effect, the rationale behind the Amazon Fire smartphone is the same as the Amazon Kindle Fire Tablet  as describe in my article Amazon is Legally Blonde as the Kindle Fire HD Upgrade...

OK, the LONNNG touted and awaited Amazon Fire Phone is out and ... well not quite yet about. Many questions are now answered but a few still remain... one of which being: "Is it hot? Or is it not?" Before wading in here let me first of all declare that one could consider me a little bit of an Amazon Fan Boy... I luv me some Amazon. There is a 9 out of 10 chance that if you lay hands on something in my house it probably came from Amazon (yeh... freal). One would therefore think that for me at least, it's a no-brainer: "Ditch that Nexus 4 and go pre-order that phone today!" is probably what they would say. I think not! Personally, I have nooo problems being an early adopter once a product comes out swinging with the right kind of punch. I bought my first Chromecast on the day it was an...

In-App Purchasing falters as Freemium In-App Advertising Rises

“This suggests that – as we have previously noted - the early days of life are absolutely vital when it comes to ‘converting’ Freemium players on mobile. It is imperative to make every effort to put the right experiences and offers in front of players from the very moment they begin play in order to maximize the revenue generated in what can be a very short window.” Excerpt from a study by Swrve, Game Developer Consultant conducted in the First Quarter of 2014 For those of you aspiring Video Game Developers planning to use the Freemium Gaming Model as described in Smartphones and Apps – Freemium Games are No. 1, be it for Desktop or for Mobile, I have some very bad news.
