Caricel – Newest Mobile Operator to enter Jamaican market “in a matter of weeks”

After months of limited information about the third potential entrant in the mobile telecommunications sector in Jamaica things have heated up in the last few days. Symbiote Investments Ltd has wrapped up the paperwork for its mobile spectrum license  and is expected to enter the Jamaican market in a matter of weeks as "Caricel." The Jamaica-owned company is expected to focus heavily on the mobile data market with he latest LTE 4G technology expected to power its initial roll-out in Kingston, St Andrew and Portmore before expanding to the rest of the island soon after. Jamaica, as many of my reader know, has the slowest Data speeds in the world as I’d reported in my article “Digicel and LIME identified by Netflix’s ISP Index as the Slowest in the Caribbean”.
