IDC Marketscape commenting on StruxureWare™ for Data Centers software suite, chosen as the leader in the Data Center Infrastructure Management for 2015

Sometimes in life, being recognized as a leader is better than tooting your own horn.

On Wednesday November 4th, 2015, IDC Marketscape, a subsidiary of IDC (International Data Corporation) recognized Schneider Electric as the leader in Data Center Infrastructure Management for 2015 as declared in report entitled IDC MarketScape: Worldwide Data Center Infrastructure Management 2015 Vendor Analysis.

Schneider Electric’s StruxureWare is IDC Marketscape's Global Leader in DCIM

This was thanks to their StruxureWare™ software suite for Data Centers, the same software suite that was used for SAP France 18-rack integrated Data Center as detailed in How Schneider Electric’s InfraStruxure made SAP France Data Center Efficient.

In coming to this conclusion, the IDC Marketscape examined the DCIM (Data Center infrastructure management) Market and how it adjusts to support Data Centers to make them more efficient and business-critical. The extensive IDC MarketScape evaluation process involved the use of the following statistics measurement tools:

  • Comparison of DCIM vendors against 30 performance and planning criteria
  • Feedback from Clients
  • Public Data from trusted Resources
  • Surveys and interviews

Schneider Electric came out on top yet again, thereby establishing the fact that StruxureWare™ software suite for Data Centers is the leader in providing the best DCIM that is intelligent, reliable and able to grow to meet future challenges as your Data Center expands in storage capacity and Scope.

Vice President, Global Data Center Software and Managed Services, Schneider Electric, Soeren Brogaard Jensen, was of course quite pleased that Schneider Electric was again conferred this honour, citing the value of DCIM in giving Data Center Manager the vision that they needed, quote: “The exponential growth of Data driven by the Internet of Things and our increasingly digital world is placing unprecedented demands on the Data Center, as it becomes the lifeblood of the business. With real-time business operations at stake, DCIM can arm users with the insight they need to remain agile and make informed decisions based on actual Data”.

Thus the fact that StruxureWare™ software suite for Data Centers was again chosen as leader was good PR for his company for future clients, quote: “The recognition of StruxureWare for Data Centers as a leader in the IDC MarketScape for DCIM accentuates our ability to provide users with a broad Data Center analytics platform that connects their business through a software-defined Data Center”.

So what exactly does IDC Marketscape‘s designation as leader in Data Center Infrastructure Management for 2015?

IDC Marketscape chooses Schneider Electric StruxureWare™ DCIM – Global Service and Support makes Data Centers’ drivers of Profitability

Schneider Electric’s StruxureWare for Data Centers makes it possible to achieve maximum efficiency throughout the Data Center lifecycle, from design and build to operation, assessment and planning.

IDC MarketScape, in their report entitled IDC MarketScape: Worldwide Data Center Infrastructure Management 2015 Vendor Analysis, explained how they arrived at this conclusion. In it, they cite Schneider Electric’s comprehensive DCIM solution as delivering the key capabilities that made Data Centers tick.

StruxureWare™ software for Data Centers, in IDC Marketscape judgment, breathed new life into Data Centers, making them move from merely being RAID arrays of Servers for Data Storage in a Climate controlled room to active participants in the IoT (Internet of Things), contributing directly to a company’s overall profitability.

This is possible thanks to StruxureWare™ capabilities in terms of:

  • Monitoring functions
  • Maintenance automation functions
  • IT management functions
  • Support for Remote access across distributed resources
  • Complete end-to-end management of critical facilities

This capability might explain why Cisco saw it fit to partner with Schneider Electric as part of their CAPP (Collaborative Automation Partner Program) as noted in How Schneider Electric and Cisco partnership is a Network Infrastructure CAPP.

IDC Marketscape took special note of the fact that you could install the StruxureWare™ for Data Centers software in small modules, opting to upgrade as your Data Center expand. This key feature made it competitive against similar software from other competitors that they reviewed.

They also highlighted Schneider Electric’s Global services and support for their DCIM as a major reason why Data Center Managers prefer their StruxureWare™ software for Data Centers.

In short, IDC Marketscape chose Schneider Electric StruxureWare™ DCIM as it made Data Centers efficient and reliable drivers of Profitability as well as easy to maintain thanks to their real-time Global Service and Support.
