Executive Vice-President, IT Business, Schneider Electric, Hal Grant, on winning the prestigious DatacenterDynamics Leaders EMEA Award in the Modular Deployment category
On the 21st December 2015, Schneider Electric won the prestigious DatacenterDynamics Leaders EMEA Award in the Modular Deployment category. This was for their state-of-the-art customized pre-fabricated Micro Data Centre installed at SagradaFamilia in Barcelona, Spain.
The award was presented to Schneider Electric’s client, CIO for SagradaFamilia, Fernando Villa during an evening ceremony hosted by television personality, Alexander Armstrong at London’s Lancaster Hotel.
Schneider Electric seems to be on a roll when it comes to winning awards.
The global specialist in energy management and automation eventually received an award only a month later for their Back-UPS Connect™ BGE50ML UPS (uninterruptible power supply), which had been named a CES 2016 Innovation Awards Honoree in the category of “Portable Power” as noted in Schneider Electric Connect™ BGE50ML is CES 2016 Innovation Award Honoree.
The DatacenterDynamics Leaders EMEA Award in the Modular Deployment category was received by CIO for SagradaFamilia, Fernando Villa how is clearly the very pleased client, quote: “The security of our IT operations is vital. The SagradaFamília is a church that is the most visited tourist attraction in Barcelona.
A UNESCO World Heritage Site, Schneider Electric designed and manufactured a customised pre-fabricated Micro Data Centre that can easily be moved when necessary. Effectively this is a Data Center on wheels, the Schneider Electric integrated pre-fabricated Data Center solution enables SagradaFamília with some amazing capabilities:
- Manage the Church’s security
- Control the millions of tourists that visit the Church
The SagradaFamília Micro Data Centre required minimal installation and was ergonomically installed so as to blend in with the aesthetics of the church and cause minimal disruption to the visiting faithful.
The Micro Data Centre was delivered to the site with racks, UPS, power distribution, cooling and management pre-installed and ready for deployment. It’s durable, with easily disconnectable electrical and mechanical connections for easy maintenance of Data Center modules and its interior infrastructure components.
