man that offered [offered] an offering of gold unto the LORD.

Exodus 35 vs 22, King James Version

Just goes to show you that contrary to what Apple CEO Steve Jobs may say about the origins of the Apple iPad, his was not the first, as, amusingly, the Biblical reference suggests otherwise. Throw in the fact that Microsoft originally suggested the tablet form factor along with the idea of the Home Entertainment system back in the 90’s, and you get a picture of a Silicon Valley that is a poster boy for Copyright Infringing and all its ills. Microsoft came out with the much anticipated Courier Tablet around the same time as the Apple iPad launched, but it since “vapour”-rized and has not seen the light of day. Speculations abounded as to its revival, despite looking a lot like the limited edition Toshiba Libretto, but Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer has flatly denied such machinations on the part of Microsoft, albeit one CNET Reporter Larry Dignan seemed to interpret his comments during a press briefing on the Microsoft Windows Phone 7 launch that suggested a possible version of Windows 7 for Tablets.

Silicon Valley seems to have gone stir crazy over the million selling Apple iPads, ever since its debut on the weekend of Saturday April 3rd and Sunday April 4th 2010, which, literally, came from left field, to borrow the America football slang and achieved the million selling feat in less than twenty eight (28) days. Early reviews stated it had a touch of genius for this never-before-seen device for this never-before-seen device form factor, despite Wi-Fi (IEEE 802.11n problems, inability to be read in direct sunlight mix and a fragile large glass interface. It has been much criticized by middle school types for its controversial name, but it game playing potential had made people fall in love with the unique Tablet form factor, not to mention a possible game console killer. Throw in its noble aspirations of saving both the comic book and the Newspaper and Print Publication Media, and it already begins to win Big Media support, both in the US as well as in Jamaica, as most Print Media houses use Apple Macs for their Desktop and Newspaper Publishing business. Thanks to the Apple iPad, Apple is now the no. 3 computer seller in the world, slowly poisoning the Netbook in the process.

  1. Microsoft denies making a or had the intentions of making a tablet? I thought they had initially planned to make the “Slate”?
