Great news for all PlayStation fans!

On Tuesday June 14th 2016, Sony finally announced the official release date for the PlayStation VR: October 13th, 2016. More interesting tidbits have also been released at the E3 Gaming Conference, where Sony let the cat out of the bag.

The price is also right; US$499, £349 or AU$550 for the headset and motion controllers, plus a PlayStation 4 game console. Really close to the US$399 price and October 2016 date I’d predicted in How US$399 PlayStation VR coming in October started a VR Console War.

Be glad you’re not paying US $600, up to US $800 as well as shelling out an additional US $1,000-plus for an optimized gaming PC for the Oculus Rift or an HTC Vive; the pitfalls of computer gamin rigs become plainly obvious. Still, once you have a great rig, these VR headsets may outperform the PlayStation VR.

However, for me, the big letdown was that the Nintendo NX was a no-show, which means we STILL have to wait till 2017 for their date and product launch as I’d pointed out in How Nintendo NX coming on March 2016 may challenge PlayStation VR.

Graphic fidelity for the PlayStation VR will not be as good as the regular 2D Games; the PlayStation VR is really for the Bleeding Edge types that like to try out 3D Gaming.

Comparably, this will be like the heyday of gaming with the original 8-bit games that defined the genre. Expect significant improvement when the next iteration of the PlayStation VR hits the shelves in 2017.

For now, you guinea pigs….er…..I mean PlayStation people, will have to be content with saying how lifelike and cool Star Wars Battlefront X-Wing VR Mission looks while you have your VR goggles on.

But folks, the Force is strong with the PlayStation VR. Especially as the PlayStation 4 is still the Top Dog in the Gaming world in terms of sales of the PlayStation 4 How PlayStation 4 has Laid Waste to Microsoft Xbox One and Nintendo Wii U.

I expect the game will turn the Gaming world up a Notch, Dragon Ball Z Style as I feel the Need, for Speed, Top Gun Style!
