On Wednesday November 13th Google launched yet another Motorola smartphone aside from the Moto X. Check the Official Motorola Moto X Website for that smartphone. However, new debutante was the Motorola Moto G, which went on sale on Tuesday November 26th 2013. Best of all, the Motorola Moto G is now on Amazon! Christmas nice again for online Shoppers!
The brother of the Motorola Moto X and is special not because of its specs or it close relationship with its more expensive sibling. Rather, it’s because the Motorola Moto G is the first smartphone from Google packing Google Android Jellybean that’s coming unlocked for a decent price of US$179 and it had solid specs. Don’t believe me? Take a gander at this specs chart compared to the Lumia 520, the ZTE Open and the Samsung Galaxy Ace 3 (3G)!
Suddenly the Digicel DL600, priced at US$80 (JA$8500) has some competition. And you though Android KitKat was a surprise only for higher-end Google Android smartphones as chronicled in Google Android 4.4 is now KitKat as Nestle-Google Secret Deal makes Android the first Product Placement OS!
This smartphone was teased from a far back as Monday November 4th 2013 and has certainly delivered on specs for that budget-friendly price. Google has definitely started a smartphone revolution with the Motorola Moto G as it’s aimed at the 500 million odd people globally in countries that just have basic 3G Mobile Internet and can’t afford smarpthone contracts or unlocked smartphones that retail at US$600!
Moto G is a US$599 smartphone parading in T-shirt and Jeggings
Motorola Moto G Specs are just simply drool worthy as listed here:

This is a very good replacement for Digicel’s DL600, even better than the Samsung Galaxy Y from LIME at US$100 as originally reported in Samsung Galaxy Y is LIME’s sub-US$100 alternative to the Digicel DL600 smartphone. Jamaicans are sure to be interested in this candy bar delight that taste of Jellybean!
Jamaicans now have Digicel DL600 alternative – Hello Moto G may be coming to Jamaica
Jamaican planning to stuff someone’s stockings with the Motorola Moto G, can check relatives and friends abroad to purchase it on Wednesday November 13th 2013:
By December 2013 it’s be available in:
- Eastern Europe
- Latin America
It then goes on sale on January 2014 in the following places:
- United Kingdom
- The Middle East
- East Asia
I’m not so sure what to expect from Americans as they may not like this cheaper smartphone that only packing Google Android Jellybean, although an update to Android KitKat is in the works for January 2014. But if you’re Jamaican, this is a deal that’s available online for purchase as described in How to ship things to Jamaica after you’re purchase them online for the Teenager (ages 13 to 17) or Millennial (ages 18 to 28) in your life that keeps on giving even after Black Friday has Faded on Friday November 29th 2013.
But the question on my mind is this: when will this smartphone come to Jamaica and if it does, will it be on Digicel, LIME or both? I know that LIME already has started carrying the Apple iPhone 5S and 5C at their newly revamped Carlton Crescent Flagship store as I’d expected in my article Apple iPhone 5S and 5C Shortages means it’s coming to LIME Jamaica in November 2013.
So based on the list above and some intelligence from insiders, I’m expecting this to land in Jamaica just in time for New Year’s in 2014 on Digicel’s Network! Can you say Happy New Year Hello Motorola Moto G on the Bigger Better Network? But for now, until then, check and purchase the Motorola Moto G now on Amazon!
Here’s where to order the Motorola Moto G:
