The Guinness World Records 2011 Gamer’s Edition is reporting that the recently launched Microsoft Kinect is now the record holder for fastest-selling consumer electronics device. It’s 10 million since launch surpasses the previous record holder the Apple iPad, launched earlier in 2010.
Guinness World Records said that Microsoft sold eight million devices between 4 November last year and 3 January at an average rate of 133,333 a day.
Formerly known as “Project Natal”, Kinect is an expansion to the Xbox 360 video game console that adds a controller free gaming and entertainment. Based around a webcam-style add-on peripheral for the Xbox 360 console, it enables users to control and interact with the Xbox 360 without the need to touch a game controller through a natural user interface using gestures, spoken commands, or presented objects and images.
