Tech tutorials, howtos and walkthroughs

On Jamaica-May 3, 2020, Huawei along with China Mobile have jointly set up the world’s highest 5G base station on the world’s highest mountain, Mount Everest. Launching the Gigabit optical fiber network at the high altitude and enabling dual Gigabit network.

In this achievement, Huawei has offered end-to-end solutions in the construction of China Mobile’s Everest dual Gigabit network. The base stations were built in Mount Everest Base Camp at the altitude of 5,300 meters, the transition camp at 5800 meters, and the forward camp at 6500 meters.

Huawei’s 5G AAU and SPN technologies are applied at these base stations, where network maintenance and optimization are done by a dozen of network specialists who station 24/7 in regions at altitudes of 5,300 meters and above to ensure smooth network operations.

Huawei 5G Technology – Limitless Bandwidth in the Harshest conditions

According to Huawei, this project has a network in the Stand-alone plus Non-stand alone (SA+NSA) mode that connects five 5G base stations. Meanwhile, the 5G fast and huge-capacity connectivity is achieved by Huawei’s Massive MIMO technology supporting lightning speed and large bandwidth.

Even at this much height, the new Huawei Massive MIMO delivers a 5G downloading speed of over 1.66Gbps and an upload speed of 215Mbps.

Huawei’s intelligent OptiX Network solutions provide quality and undisrupted data transfer of high-res videos, VR live broadcasts, and such contents.

Also, the HoloSens intelligent video surveillance system ensures streaming quality with the capabilities of optimization and one-click fault locating to keep the network always on even at the altitude of 6,500 meters at the summit of Everest.
