Samsung, ever up to the challenge, had on Monday August 17th 2015 upgraded the Level On Wireless Pro headphones that originally made their debut in November 2014 as reported in How Samsung’s Top 7 Christmas Gift List can make Christmas unforgettable.

So says their Press Release titled Samsung Introduces Level On Wireless Pro Headphones for a Premium Listening Experience.

Part of a tag team of Level On and Level Over Headphones, Samsung chose to upgrade the Level On initially with wireless capability. They now followed on with UHQA (Ultra High Quality Audio) on Monday August 17th 2015, thus marking the Level On Wireless Pro headphones were born!

But what is UHQA? And aside from this, is there anything else special about the US$250 Level On Wireless Pro headphones that make them worthwhile Christmas Gifts!?

Samsung Level On Wireless Pro headphones – UHQA Secret Sauce with ANC sprinkles

The new secret sauce created by Samsung, UHQA (Ultra High Quality Audio) helps the Level On Wireless Pro headphones retain the rich sound of your music, be they in wired mode or Bluetooth streaming mode.

This standard guarantees the listener music at a HD Audio level, making CD’s sound passé and putting you right there in the thick of your favourite artiste’s performance on stage. However, be warned; this feature only works with the Samsung Galaxy Note 5 and the Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge Plus.

The first thing that Samsung did that sets these headphones apart from the competition can be seen in the construction and the design aesthetics. The Level On Wireless Pro Headphones have ear cups made with adjustable memory foam cushion, meaning that they’ll take some of the pressure off your ears.

An included 40 mm dual-layered diaphragm means softer bass and more balance in the volume of the left and right channel of your music. “Fashion ova style”, as Samsung, always the trendsetter, gives you a choice between two (2) colour schemes:

  • Gold
  • Black

The headphones also have active noise cancelling (ANC) technology, making it possible to jam to your tunes while sweating off some pounds in the gym or slumming it during your commute to work without having to bother yourself with the cares of the world around you.

It achieves this thanks to the use of four (4) external and internal microphones that detect noise and using an inverter amplifier to invert the noise. This is then added back to the music, thereby cancelling out the noise present.

However, if you’re one of those nature loving types that likes to take long walks in Emancipation Park or Hope Zoo, there is a Talk-In Mode that allows users to listen to music and hear ambient sound at the same time was tailor-made for you, Taylor Swift Style.

This capability really comes in handy especially when you’re out jogging on the road, as it allows you to hear your surroundings on the street and avoid being hit by a car.

Samsung Smart Touch Connection – Smartphone Touch Screen controls on a Headphone with long battery life

The feature that really sells these on ear headphones is the Smart Touch Connection that allows the listener to change the volume and adjust the tracks by touching the headphones in a manner similar to a smartphone screen.

I’ve seen this feature on the US$300 Sennheiser Urbanite XL Wireless headphones and I’m quite impressed that Samsung has added it to the Level On Wireless Pro headphones at US$50 less.

The Level On Wireless Pro headphones can work in either wired or wireless mode, with the wired mode having the benefit of an inline remote and microphone for volume control as well as receiving important phone calls. This 35mm audio Jack is basically detachable, allowing the headphones to synchronize via Bluetooth 4.1 to your Samsung Galaxy Note 5 and Galaxy S6 Edge Plus.

On ANC and Wireless you get ten (10) hours of blissful music listening pleasure while burning some carbs in the gym on your morning run. If you the outdoor type and you like jogging earthly in the morning through Swallowfield, New Kingston or Castries in St. Lucia, then turning off the ANC will extend your battery life to twenty (20) hours.

In wired mode on your commute to work and back home on the weekends, you’ll get eighteen (18) hours of TGIF (Thank God it’s Friday) Music as you ANC the world around you.

So, are the Level On Wireless Pro headphones worth US$250?

Given the fact that they can deliver great music in wired or wireless mode as well as the thoughtful Talk-In Mode feature, US$250 seems just about right for these On Ear headphones that promise to make Exercise quite Noise free.
