The Nexus family of android smartphones and tablets expanded today when Google announced the release of its latest flagship Android smartphone. The Nexus 5 gets its name from its 5 inch screen and comes running the next iteration of Android. Android 4.4 or “Kitkat” provides many improvements over the previous versions the most notably being it is ability to run of lower end devices and better power management.

Nexus 5 is available today, unlocked and without a contract, on Google Play in the U.S., Canada, U.K., Australia, France, Germany, Spain, Italy, Japan and Korea (and coming soon to India), starting at $349. CNET has done a good job providing a synopsis of the new Nexus 5 as well as some of the added features that Android 4.4 Kitkat brings. I only just got the Android 4.3 update for my Samsung Galaxy S4 a few days ago, I wonder how long before I get KitKat?
