A couple that can be mentioned are the Flow eGames Feva FIFA 16 tournament and Clan Pro Circuit's Street Fighter V Invitational. Let's not forget some of the local tournaments held around the Island. Despite those tournaments, there hasn't been a break out major tournament since the Cyberbox C.E.L Games in 2015. Legitimizing eSports: Bit By Bit

One would think as time goes on that people would look at the growth and advancement of the newly founded industry of eSports positively. Sadly the powers that be are typically from the older generation that has the mindset that gaming is nothing but a hobby or waste of time. It is primarily for this reason why over the past two years it has been a bit challenging to get eSports widely accepted and recognized here in Jamaica. Time marches on and reported earlier today another step is being taken to further legitimize eSports on the competitive world stage; starting with Counterstrike: Global Offensive. Pro gaming league ESL has decided to start administering tests for performance-enhancing drugs. In the wake of pro Counter-Strike players’ admissions that they’d been chomping on ADHD...

Youtube Gaming coming this summer

In an unexpected move we see YouTube entering the long non-contested market of online game streaming. YouTube is getting more serious about gaming and everyone else should too. This summer, the video streaming service will launch YouTube Gaming, a new app and website dedicated to video game content: Let's Plays, livestreams, speedruns and more. After providing a preview of their 60fps streaming service just last month, YouTube has officially announced today the next step in their broadcasting expansion. This comes as a surprise to some people but industry veterans know the history behind all these happenings. Some may even remember the first attempt Google made to get into providing a streaming service last year around May when they were in talks to buy Twitch. Sadly or gladly depending on...
