The US$199 Amazon Fire smartphone on a 2 year contract is already destined for superstardom, as it’s got great genes like its parents, the7” Amazon Kindle Fire Tablet launched in 2011 and the Amazon Fire TV recently launched in April 2014. It’s already a part of the great tradition of products that Amazon has launching that take advantage of people’s propensity to make snap decisions to buy products.

This phenomenon is started off with you making rational left-brained decisions, only for your less logical right-brain to kick in, with your emotions getting the better of you, resulting in impulsive buying. In effect, the rationale behind the Amazon Fire smartphone is the same as the Amazon Kindle Fire Tablet  as describe in my article Amazon is Legally Blonde as the Kindle Fire HD Upgrade is CEO Bezos’s Confessions of an Online Shopaholic and the Amazon Fire TV, launched earlier this year; Couch Potato Shopping anywhere, anytime.

Only this time, it’s packing some truly head turning technology that’ll have Amazon Prime users fired up, pun very much intended!

Never mind the fact it’s currently tied to an uber-exclusive deal with AT&T; this is a Volkwagen or Volks-phone if you will, literally meaning “people smartphone”. Amazon did this one…..for the Amazon Prime peeps! That’s not an issue here, as this, as I’ve hinted, is one for the shoppers on Amazon!

You see, if your looking at this as “yet-another-android-device”, they you’ve got your head set on backwards. It’s quad-infrared Camera system that powers the Dynamic Perspective tech means that you can nod your head, Will Smith Men in Black Style, and get an around product view of any product your buying. Firefly lifts impulsive buying to a whole new level, as their growing database of items literally turns everyday products into a buying lalapalooza that no-self respecting Amazon junkie can resist.

This is a nice pre-Christmas Candy Bar treat for Amazon’s many loyal Prime Customers and a well deserved treat at that. It’ll be a smashing success, not because it packing the latest features, but merely because it makes the one thing Amazon Prime like doing best even better: Shopping online, with a tool that literally makes it easy for you to buy virtually anything you can take a picture of with its more than ample camera.

Thus this phone isn’t for non-Amazon, hard core techie peeps. They’ll find its 4.7″ IPS screen, Quad-core 2.2GHz Processor with Adreno 330 graphics, 2GB of RAM, 13MP rear-facing camera with image stabilization and an f2.0 lens vastly underwhelming when compared with the big Android boys and their rock-em-sock-em toys already digging the scene, man.

My main concern and the real orange elephant in the Room, is that they’re launching exclusively on AT&T alone. Amazon needs to change this stat with contract deals with Sprint, Verizon and a special Un-Carrier version on T-Mobile so that Amazon will achieve the best of both Worlds in terms of being a commercial success and gaining more Amazon Prime online customers.

As after all, it not the one-off sales of Amazon Fire smartphones that makes money in the smartphone biz, but the continued sales from their online Shopping portal as well as their App Store that count. This as many Amazon Prime subscribers might like the prospect of a magic wand of a smartphone tailor-made for Amazon customers.
