Samsung Electronics, global leader in technology, participated in the celebration of 10th anniversary of Good Deeds Day on Sunday April 10th 2016. They did this with the support of 20% of its corporate volunteers from 12 countries in Central America and the Caribbean. In 2015, Day of Good Deeds mobilized 930,000 volunteers from 70 countries.
In 2016, Samsung Electronics joined to amplify the message of Good Deeds Day: we can all do a good deed, big or small, as a group or as an individual, to improve the life of others and the world we live in.
The impact of Good Deeds Day is a result of the participation of more than 20 % of collaborators from the following offices along with the support of Glasswing International:
- Costa Rica
- Dominican Republic
- El Salvador
- Guatemala
- Honduras
- Jamaica
- Miami
- Nicaragua
- Panama
- Trinidad and Tobago
- Venezuela and Ecuador
Additionally, Samsung collaborators became “Cause Leaders,” mobilizing colleagues to volunteer in other community organizations, engaging in themes such as: recycling, animal care, supporting children with heart surgeries, amongst others.
Nicole Orillac says their activities are an inspiration to other to become volunteers for good that can be done in the communities that they assist, quote: “The extent of our activities reflects the spirit of the corporate citizen and the desire that volunteers have to do good deeds within their communities. These characteristics encourage others to join the volunteering movement and awaken the possibility for additional contributions in the communities.
The Samsung Electronics team in Central America and the Caribbean focused its regional support in creating educational and interactive murals which not only display didactic content relating to proper use of technology amongst the youth, but also brightens the school environment and beautify the educational centers. Children learn best when in a cozy environment as it helps to transmit the positive and educational messages teachers have for them.
