It’s official folks; Samsung is recalling the Samsung Galaxy Note 7!

This is in response to reports of the Samsung Galaxy Note 7 batteries exploding and catching on fire while charging. Good to note that this is a global recall of all as per their statement on their Samsung Blog; replacements will be issued to all users, regardless of date of purchase.

Also, sales of the Note 7 have been halted until fault devices have been recovered, which according to head of Samsung’s handset business division, Koh Dong-jin, is only 24 in every 1,000,000 Samsung Galaxy Note 7.

This implies that Samsung known which units have bad batteries as unaffected Note 7 units remain in circulation. So how did this happen?

Albeit Samsung designed its Smartphones, down to the batteries, it outsourced the manufacturing to other companies. One of those factories is to blame for the faulty battery.

Recalls are an expensive business and are damaging to a company’s reputation, especially as the Apple iPhone 7 launch so close on September 7th 2016.
