“This is truly ground-breaking for the entire industry. It is also a seminal moment in our nation’s history with consumers as the biggest winners. LIME Jamaica is leading the charge in making voice calls cost significantly less,” Sinclair highlighted. “TALK EZ’s “one-rate” charge means that a consumer can call a relative in Clarendon, Toronto or New York for the same unbelievably low rate of $2.99 per minute,” he continued.

“LIME understands the economic challenges everyone is facing and wants Jamaicans to be able to stretch their disposable income. Communication is no longer a luxury, it’s a necessity and we are proud to lead Jamaica into an era of true telecommunication liberalisation,” he added.

TALK EZ post-paid customers will pay $1.99 per minute for all on-net calls, which is also a historically low rate for Jamaica. Calls from LIME customers to other local networks have also been dramatically reduced to $6.99 per minute – the lowest rate available in Jamaica. Sinclair further announced an extraordinary offer on Alcatel phones for $999 a 50% price reduction. Customers who purchase the phone tomorrow (June 15th) will also receive the same amount paid ($999) in top up credit for one-day only (June 15), while stocks last. The company will also be offering SIM Cards for $300, down from the usual price of $500. LIME stores island-wide will extend business hours tomorrow by opening an hour earlier and closing at 7:00 p.m. for greater customer convenience.

“We thank all our customers who have stayed with us over the years, especially our very loyal post-paid customers. We also thank the Claro customers who came on board a few months ago and extend a special encouragement to those on the other network to come over to the LIME and enjoy real value, superior data experience and extraordinary savings!” Mr Sinclair said.

With a strong emphasis on delivering value, the company which successfully advocated for a level playing field recently welcomed the announcement of the interim mobile termination rate set by the Office of Utility Regulation (OUR) and swiftly moved to make good on its commitment to pass on additional value to the consumer.
