If you’ve been wondering what has become of LG G Watch that made its debut at the IFA Trade show in September 2014 in Germany then fret no more! Announced as far back as August 2014, it’s highly expected to be a big seller once it goes live in South Korea. According to ETNews, the G Watch R is expected to land in South Korea by Thursday October 16th 2014.

That is, if you can read Korean of course! So I’ll translate for you; this smartwatch is smokin’ hot, folks!

Specs for the LG’s G Watch R – Repping’ for Android Wear in Baby Steps

The specs for the LG’s G Watch R are certainly impressive. The 1.3-inch (33mm) plastic OLED display sports a 320×320-pixel resolution. A bit disappointing that it isn’t Gorilla Glass 3 or Sapphire screen, but I’m sure it’s designed to be scratch and haze resistant. Powered by a 1.2GHz Snapdragon 400 processor and a 410mAh battery, it sports series of Google Android health and fitness apps from the LG Health suite.

The Android Wear OS has a nice 512MB of RAM platy area with 4GB of internal storage for apps. More interestingly for the fitness and athletics buffs, it meets IP67 certification to resist against dust and water. Translation: 3.3 feet (1 meter) of water for 30 minutes. I was hoping for 100 feet but it’s the second prototype so baby steps people! Also no word on the battery life but at 410mAh, that sounds like just about a little over a day!

LG G Watch R – Look like a real G in this refined gun-metal Grey

At least unlike the Samsung Galaxy Gear 2 and Samsung Galaxy Gear Neo 2 smartwatch updates on Saturday February 22nd 2014 they work with ALL Goggle Android smartphones and not just LG Smartphones as I’d ranted in Don’t cry over spilt Samsung Milk as Samsung Galaxy S5 and smartwatches disappoint.

No Apple iPhone operability, albeit I doubt any Apple iPhone user would want a smartwatch that doesn’t do what the NFC-powered Apple Watch promises for its loyal fans; make them use Apple Pay in a bid to cut out the unsecure Credit Cards in their Wallets.

LG G Watch R review (2)-1200-80

The G Watch R improves on the original LG G Watch with a Cartier-looking 1.3″ P-OLED touchscreen in an all gun-metal grey body. The sophisticate Android Wear look is completed with a leather strap, making you look more gentleman-like and less like someone lost from the Comic Book Store from The Big Bang Theory.

Put another way, this’ll give the Motorola Moto 360, another Android Wear device that showcases the best of Android Wear which editor Keltoy in his article Google announces Android Wear has great hopes to make smartwatches mainstream

So what the price for the smartwatch that’ll finally make me look like a real G?

ZDNet Korea puts it at US$$330 (352,000 won) when it goes live in South Korea, roughly US$100 more than the current LG G Watch now on sale in the US of A for US$230. So is it worth it folks….’cause with that metallic embrace and refined sherry looks, this is how we do it people!
