Tech tutorials, howtos and walkthroughs

I really love wristwatches. Really do. Would stand stock still gazing at a good wristwatch “oohing” and “aawing” at its design and elegance.

Tre magnifique, mon ami!

The silly season of Christmas has me thinking crazy thoughts of working extra had to get more money saved up with more hours working at ACS-Xerox (I’m employed as a Customer Service Agent…more on that in another article!!!) and plunking down some money on a good wristwatch.

The Apple iPod Nano or even the Phospor Reveal are a few good choices for wristwatches and were the focus of my eagle eye in the article Apple iPod Nano vs Phosphor Reveal – Bling Bling, Playa.

Curiously, I am yet to spot any good ones of a similar technology slant or take, as the ones available are just flashy tech imitations that are flesh mechanics gaudiness I abhor in wristwatches. Tell the time, geekily as possible and I am hooked.

But Fob Watches make you look like a distinguished gentleman and have a certain aura of mystique that swirls about them. Not to mention give you something to attach that chain in your pant! Of what do I rant, you ask?

I make reference to the curious habit that Millennials [ages 18 to 28] have of wearing a chain in their jeans pants that seems to connect in a loop from one place to nothing at all. This fashion statement is actual a play on the Fob Watch of a classic bygone 16th Century that speaks of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle’s Sherlock Holmes.

Elementary my dear reader, elementary! And here was I thinking young ‘uns had no style.

Well, here is a watch that is a Fob…..and it screams Tron-chic sophistication with a hint of Steampunk in its design. The Kisai Rogue Touch Pocket Watch is such a Fob Watch and I love it to bits at first glance. Dangling on a 13.7 inch stainless steel chain, even appeals to females too……..or at least would attract them with its rich stainless steel finish and choice of four metallic colors:

  • Blue
  • Green
  • Red
  • Natural (what colour is that?)

What’s more, the watch is touch-centric with a combo LED/LCD Display, allowing easily readable illuminated interaction with an otherwise plain watch. But the Tron bit is in the reading and setting of the time, which is done via its cleverly structured touch interface hidden behind a classic spring hinged Mineral Crystal Lens cover. To read the time is pure magic, I tell you.

The display shows an outer ring that is segmented into twelve (12) blocks that represent each hour. A ring just inside is segmented into sixty (60) parts or dots to represent minutes. Thus all you have to do is to connect the dots and voila! – you can read the time, Tron style.

Inner rings can be set for other times zones and its usual watch functionalities can also be programmed via its touch interface, a classy tip of the hat to today’s trend of capacitive touch smartphones. So don’t just don’t mess with my Zen man! Get the watch if you think it’s cool!

This is Kisai Rogue Touch Pocket Watch is a sure stocking stuffer for the geek you love – and wish would be more of a gentleman, Steampunk style!

  1. Nice concept, fail watch… i want a straight forward easy to read watch. Not a tutorial on how to read a watch

Why do i have to touch the screen for it to light up? You’d think as a modern watch you could press the button halfway and it lights up

  2. great comment. actually its al about your style. this is tron-esque love in the form of arm candy that actually looks stylish. Geek-centric, not necessarily practical …..or to be worn in public………..
