“It keeps getting better and better for Digicel Play customers. We have done our research and are committed to providing our customers with a line-up to keep them engaged and entertained on broadband, mobile or TV. NBCUniversal has a wide variety of content for all customers to enjoy – it’s truly an exciting time for the brand and our customers.”
Digicel Play CEO for Caribbean and Central America, John Suranyi, commenting on the deal signed with NBCUniversal
Digicel Play has now stepped up to the big leagues with their latest content deal. This time it’s with NBCUniversal, a subsidiary of Comcast Corporation as announced on Tuesday March 22nd 2016.
This means some 10,000 plus subscriber as I’d noted in Why Digicel Play 10,000 Subscribers spells trouble for FLOW Jamaica will be able to see the latest episodes of the following action and Drama series:
- Law & Order
- Law & Order: Special Victims Unit
- Law & Order: Criminal Intent
- Real Housewives
- American Greed
- The Office
So aside from yet another reason why it’ll be difficult to leave the house, what else has Digicel Play done that’s noteworthy as I relates to Cable TV?
Digicel Play Fibre Doctor is in the house – FLOW Jamaica Customer Care still has no Advantage
Aside from this latest content deal, the Triple Play FTTH Provider is really stepping it up, even sporting a new Digicel Play Fibre Doctor in a web series called Digicel Play Guide on their YouTube channel.
Yes, a real Doctor, Doctor Who style, to solve all of your queries.
First lesson already; how to Timeshift using Digicel Play’s DVR (Digital Video Recorder).
FLOW Jamaica is yet to have anything instructional videos on their YouTube channel to help customer resolve problems or to even walk you through their various channel offerings.
Instead, they’re relying on their recently launched 350+ strong Call Center now relocated back in Jamaica under contract with Advantage Communications since March 2016.
Something tell me that FLOW Jamaica is going to be seriously challenged not only by the gradually improving content offering of Digicel Play but their slow introduction of Self-Help Videos, which FLOW Jamaica’s YouTube Channel lacks. For now, our restrictive 3G Data Plans make watching YouTube videos something only Digicel 4G Broadband users floating on Wi-Fi can take advantage.
If Digicel Jamaica expands their offering of Self-help videos around the same time they launch 4G LTE, predicted to be on Tuesday May 17th 2016 as noted in Digicel and CANTO’s 10th Annual WTISD 2016 Video Competition heralds 4G LTE, then their YouTube Videos Traffic will explode with queries relating to their products.
Expect more from Digicel Play and the Digicel Play Doctor on their Digicel Play Youtube Channel!
