Digicel is ponderously moving forward with their Caribbean-wide Streaming Cable TV Plans. They’ve now signed an agreement with HBO for specific Cable Packages and Content offered by the Broadcaster.
Digicel has acquired to be interconnected to their Caribbean wide submarine Cable Network as listed in Digicel Cable and Submarine Fiber Optic Acquisitions point to 4G LTE based Caribbean Streaming TV.
This deal, which is identical to the one that LIME signed with HBO in April 2013 to provide the Cayman Islands with HBO on LIME TV heralds the coming of Streaming HBO and MAX Cable packages when Digicel eventually launches their 4G LTE Network later in 2015!
This means that the Cable companies that Digicel has acquired including Telstar Cable here in Jamaica as noted in Kelroy’s article Digicel to Acquire Jamaica’s Telstar will be able to watch or stream the following HBO Channels as part of their Digicel HBO/MAX premium package:
- HBO (Caribbean)
- HBO Family
- HBO Plus
- HBO Plus (Pan-regional)
- HBO Signature
- MAX (Caribbean)
- MAX Prime
- MAX UP
Good to note here that HBO (Caribbean) and MAX (Caribbean) were channels tailored specifically for the Caribbean Market! Along with the HBO package are also some minor channels:
- Canal Sony
- Telemundo Internacional
- Warner Channel
Put simply, if you have Telstar Cable, you’ll be able to watch premieres of original productions and blockbuster films on the HBO Channels. Award-winning international films, documentaries and series can also be found on the MAX channels.
Now is a good time to be a Telstar Cable Subscriber in Jamaica, as when they launch 4G LTE later in 2015, you may just be privileged to be one of the first to Stream HBO to your Smartphone.
