Tech tutorials, howtos and walkthroughs

Common-sense stuff: To use both Cores for one (1) task is not sensible, so typically one (1) Core at a time is active. The two (2) Cores only become active if Developers code their programs to utilize the multi-threading option that make Dual-Core so attractive to Game Developers, a different species of programmer.

Game Developers often opt to program for a GPU (Graphics Processing Unit) as opposed to a Dual-Core Processor Platform. Majority of the time, however, only one (1) Core is running. Hence his boast of twice the speed (maximum) for the A5 CPU which is unrelated to the number of Cores, but is really a reflection of the 1GHz speed upgrade.

This as Dual-Cores are not twice as fast, just capable of more throughput for intensive graphics or programming that takes advantage of multi-threading.

Nine (9) times the speed for the graphics sounds just about right and – get this! – same low power consumption and thus same phenomenal Full Usage time of ten (10) golden hours, a standard that to date the other Tablets will have a hard time emulating.

And the battery is not even bigger! Still with the 16G, 32GB and 64GB sizes with the option of Wi-Fi (IEEE 802.11n) or Wi-Fi (IEEE 802.11n) +3G, thus dispelling rumours of a migration to be 4G LTE (Long Term Evolution) capable, as Telecom Providers expand. Apparently power consumption is an issue, so Apple Inc is not taking any chances to add further support for other power draining Data Communications standards. “Wait and see” appear to be the approach being taken by Apple Inc. with regards to LTE.

CNET’s Testing Labs should be able to get their hands on this much improved beauty to test it out before I can definitively say that this is absolutely true. People, writing and trying my best not to be too giddy!

Another noteworthy addition aside from what is under the hood which the Apple iPad 2 will pretty much made standard: front VGA and rear facing HD cameras with the FaceTime Platform for calling other Apple devices so enabled.

The Apple iPad will be shipping with HDMI support for its proprietary 30-pin connector as well as a really clever magnetic Apple iPad cover that is truly “magical”, to borrow the word from CEO Steve Jobs.

Sorry folks, but ThunderBolt, which is on the recently updated 13”, 15” and 17” MacBook Pros, will not be making a debut on the Apple iPad 2 this trip. Neither is there any USB port: not everything can be doubled, especially if it drains battery power!

It also boasts a thinner form factor from its predecessor now down to 8.8mm from 13.4mm (Tablet Makers take note!). Most importantly, it is a tad lighter at 1.33lbs, down from 1.56lbs for its older sibling, according to the specs, weight being an important stat for a device that is suppose to be portable.

If the other Tablet makers can at least get the battery life, weight and thickness, they would not only make Laptops, Netbooks and PC’s obsolete, but also the Tablet PC, another ill-attempt or crack at the Tablet Market obsolete as well. Of the Tablet PC Steve said, quote: “The Tablet PC crashed and burned. The modern Tablet PC is the iPad.”

Cupertino-base Apple Inc.: not bad! But I guess what will now convince many a consumer is pricing. Take a gander at the prices below for the Apple iPad 2, which remain unchanged from the pricing of the original Apple iPad when it debut on Saturday April 3rd and Sunday April 4th 2010:

It ships both in Black and White and goes on sale as of Friday March 11th 2011. Curiously, there was no pre-order announced at the launch, which aside from the basic upgrades, signals Apple CEO Steve Jobs confidence in his product maintaining its “90%” share of the Tablet Market in the lead up to the London 2012 Olympics, when streaming on Tablet and IPTV is expected to reach traffic levels akin to World Cup 2010. At this point Vybz Kartel’s song “Dancehall Hero” seems somehow appropriate…..

But best of all for Jamaicans, the price of the original Apple iPad in all sizes gets a nice US$100 price cut from the above prices, making this pricey piece of computer evolution Easy Skankin’ for those with Credit Cards and an insatiable appetite for taking a bite…….. of the Apple.

Stay tuned to this Blog folks for the Apple iPhone…….Coming in June 2011! For Apple iPad Specs see the link: http://www.Apple.com/ipad/specs/
