The Alcatel OneTouch Idol 2 Mini is a US$200 to US$250 smartphone from the TCL Corporation that’s the non-LTE-enable version of the Idol Mini 2.
Like the bigger Idol 2 smartphone, the Alcatel OneTouch Idol 2 Mini is a GSM (Global System Mobile) smartphone with a dual-SIM personality. Dual-SIM smartphones are the current trend in Jamaica and the wider Caribbean as predicted in Trend towards Dual-SIM Smartphones developing in Jamaica as MNP Approaches.
The TCL Corporation, makers of the Alcatel OneTouch Line of smartphones, plans to take the Caribbean by storm with the Alcatel OneTouch Idol 2 Mini.
Straight out of the box for, you get a spankin’ new charger/adapter, headset and guide; it’s the slower of the two Idol siblings.
Alcatel OneTouch Idol 2 Mini is Magic metal in you hands
It’s conveniently fits in one hand, making two-handed surfin’ possible during your daily commute. Sporting dimensions of 129 x 63.5 x 7.9 mm (5.08 x 2.5 x 0.31 in), the Alcatel OneTouch Idol 2 Mini is surprisingly light, weighing in at 110 g (3.88 oz), so its light on your pocket too!
The 4.5” screen Alcatel OneTouch Idol 2 Mini is housed in a body with a nice metallic finish but in a fusion of brighter colour options:
- Full White
- Hot Pink
That screen is a capacitive qHD IPS with a resolution of 540 x 960 pixels. With that resolution, the high strength unscratchble Dragontrail glass easily does 245 ppi pixel density. It supports to five (5) fingers in multi-touch mode, and can withstand finger and oily face smudges thanks to its Oleophobic coating.

Alcatel OneTouch Idol 2 Mini runs Google Android 4.3 Jelly Bean on a Quad Core 1.2 GHz CPU Processor.

The Internal memory and RAM configuration vary from single SIM or Dual SIM:

The Front and Rear-Facing Cameras on the Alcatel OneTouch Idol 2 Mini are quite interesting. The Rear-facing Camera is an 8 Megapixel that takes 3264 x 2448 pixels images and does 1080p video. HDR (High Dynamic Range), autofocus and a LED flash, guarantee that all your photos are Social media ready!
It also has a panorama more and supports touch focus and face detection to make your selfies all about you. Geo-tagging means your friend wiuk know exactly where those photos were taken and make sure they don’t experience the FOMO (Fear of Missing Out).

Browsing the Internet is possible on 3G or Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n. Sharing is caring and you can share Internet access with up to five (5) persons. The DLNA (Digital Living Network Alliance) and Wi-Fi Direct capability allows you to share your files and music with similarly compatible devices.

The music player supports MP3, AAC+, WAV, WMA file playback and the Bluetooth 4.0 allows or pairing with Bluetooth . It also supports great video playback as the default Video player is DivX, MP4 and H.264 compatible.
Listening to music and watching videos will rapidly drain your Li-Ion 1700 mAh battery that recharges via a microUSB v2.0. 450 h of standby on the 2G GSM Network and up to 400 h while using 3G Internet are guaranteed figures that make the Alcatel OneTouch Idol 2 Mini a standout budget smartphone.
12 h on the 2G GSM Network which drops further to 5 h (3G) while using 3G Internet are the result of talking too long on your smartphone.
